INFO ABOUT THE ANIMAL:
Name: Sand Cat (Felis margarita)
Location: Sahara, Arabian Desert, deserts of Iran and Pakistan
Size: 50 cm + 30 cm long tail weight: 2, 7 kg
Diet: rodents, lizards, birds and insects
Conservation status: Near Threatened
Enemies: humans, wolves, snakes, raptors
Interesting facts: Sand cats have thick fur on their paws, so they can walk on hot sand | cats do not have to drink water – they gain all the water they need from the body of their prey | cats dig their prey into sand to come back and eat it later | they live solitarily

Ah, I found out about that species a couple of years ago, they are very interesting examples of mammalian adaption to harsh environments. The large ears are both to aid in cooling the cat and to detect the movements of potential predators and prey. As might be expected, they are not that active in the mid-day heat and prefer the dawn, dusk and the night to become active.
