Family of arctic wolves (canis lupus arctos, vlk arkticky) from ZOO Brno, Czech republic
there are two females, Alex and Clair and cubs of Clair. One of my the best shots, I think 
They look like a happy family, do not they? In fact, Alex used to be alpha female and she gave birth to five pups this year. Only few days after this, Clair, beta female, also gave birth! She had 6 babies. The harmony in the pack was destroyed and Clair attacked and killed all five cubs of Alex, the alpha. Alex fortunately accepted the new situation and now both females take care of 6 cubs of Clair.
This picture was taken after Clair stopped feeding her pups. Now Alex is massaging belly of a cub to make it excrete well

Beautiful photo, it's difficult to think of that situation from a wolf's perspective instead of a human's. It wouldn't be fair to call it cruel on Claire's part; I'm glad both are getting along and working together in the end.

Wolfes have multiple labors in the pack, this one is the mother and the ''babysitter'' , another ones are the mediators, who cares to stop the fight on the pack, etc..

Wolves are shy so I understand why they never appear but its still annoying enough thatI barely go to the zoo anymore
