Description
The Nereid was drawn for a close friend of mine for her birthday in the summer of 2015. Some of you may recognize this as a Clipper Ship, an older three-masted design. I used tin foil as a guide for the waves, and ironically (due to the air conditioner of my 23yr-old car) there is actually water damage where the waves are-if you're observant enough to spot it. After my initial panic, I realized the damage was where the waves were supposed to be (only the ship was drawn at the time) and blended the damage into the waves. That is a Swedish flag on the top, shout-out to my heritage, and the signal flags are standard patterns for the times. I looked at numerous models, paintings, and photographs of modern recreational clipper ships to achieve the level of accuracy I did. And no, I did not bother adding sailors, so think of it as a ghost ship if you wish.
