Uwaah! Wrinkles are so hard, but you pull it off beautifully! And it's not just wrinkles; it's the perfect combination of shading and lighting to give him that slight smile with a "twinkle in the eye." He looks like his years have made him wiser, but haven't dampened his empathy with the younger generations, making the kind of person I’d want to teach me kung fu because I know he wouldn’t get impatient with my clumsy ineptness. ^__^ And he’s “cool” too; not a whole lot of senior citizens I know would wear awesome piercings like that, let alone look good with them!

wooooooooooooow D:. You draw wrinkly old men amazingly well, and that was an utmost compliment. The choice of color combination was really great, the white hair really stands out this way. I love how you can see the individual strands, and how that earring just seemingly jumps out at you. You really managed to convey a sense of ancient wisdom and passive strength in this composition ^-^ I'd say, GREAT work with this one!

I've got an old man character that I would upload, if I could find him... I agree that old men are fun to draw, but something not many know is that they're also fun to role play. A good third of all my D&D characters have been middle aged or older, as opposed to the rest of the young whipper-snappers that are in the party... just swinging their swords at anything that moves.
When you're an old fighter, like this guy, you learn to pick and choose your enemies sparingly. It's a skill they must know, because with all those aches and pains, it hurts to throw a punch.

Even though it's rough and unrefined, you really show a lot of skill in this piece. The hair, especially on the chin is excellent and very 3 dimensional. I also like the forehead.... even though you used large brush strokes, there is the appearance of fine detail.

I agree entirely. Old folks aren't given enough credit They're amazingly fun to draw, and even more fun to roleplay! You learn a bit of wisdom roleplaying an old guy... The aged warrior, such as the one illustrated here, must pick and choose his battles sparingly. It's a skill everyone must learn when it hurts three seperate spots in your arm to throw a punch.
Anyways, since seeing this last night, I dug up one of my own aged men. Old Jeb, he was called, for lack of a better name. Maybe he just forgot what his real one was... oh, well. Just come check him out!
