A good piece of Bowser fanart is something I've wanted to do for a long time, since he's my favorite Nintendo character, and now I've finally gotten around to it. Call me crazy, but I admire how he just keeps trying to kidnap Peach and beat Mario no matter how many times he loses. That is truly courage in the face of adversity, even if he is technically the badguy. But really, can you blame him for kidnapping Peach? Recent games have shown that if anything he's just lonely, and Peach is a severe hotty.Anyway, I figured I'd draw a picture of him actually kidnapping Peach, because that wasn't ever shown in the old games. Specifically, I chose the kidnapping from Mario 3, because there was a picture of him in the instruction manual wearing a cape and I thought Bowser looked extra cool in a cape. Unfortunately, I couldn't find said picture, so I had to go off of memory.

Just noticed today that the background has mobs in it like the goomba and koopa troopas. That made it like 10x cooler. So 100% cool x 10 would be..... eh OVER 9000

Very nice. It gives Bowser a new look. I like the contrast and shading in the drawing. The coloring looks amazing! It gives off a mysterious, night time, sort of vibe.

So you saw it reposted elsewhere well before stumbling across its official source? I've found a few pics that way myself. In any case, I'm glad you enjoyed it no matter how you saw it.
As for the interpretation, my own intention was that it was Peach's view of being kidnapped in Mario 3, but Bowser going around making deals in the classic devil style is probably just as cool.

You're welcome. Back when I was 12 l would watch a bunch of slideshows of Nintendo characters, but didn't bother getting into DA until I was 18. I was surprised when I found out the intention for this pic, but it's still cool. I think should draw characters in a cloak making deals

Pretty sure Bowser can use dark magic all the time, what with turning everyone in the mushroom Kingdom to bricks, or Peach into a stained glass window, or all the other weirdness he's pulled off over the series. The cape just gives him an extra bonus to his magic stat.

Well, we all make mistakes, so don't worry about it too much. Or maybe do worry because Bowser doesn't appreciate his subjects forgetting how awesome and powerful he is. And his dungeons are full of lava.

Considering he's worn strange looking power-up costumes in the games now, you wouldn't think a cape would be that much of a stretch. Especially since it was a power-up too years and years ago. Why does only Mario get to wear a cape ever?

Yep, the cape's pretty slick, as long you don't pay attention to how it should realistically look kinda awkward draped over his shell spikes. Luckily, it seems like hardly anybody has noticed. Outta site, outta mind.
