Description I love mirror painting mode in Painter12. It's convinient to design weapons or armors.
When I changed Painter to Photoshop, I found this way to do mirror painting.

Hey there!

Your tutorial has been featured in my weekly journal: Tutorial Tuesday #21!

I'd love if you could take a look and support your fellow tutorial writers through comments and critiques on their deviations.

Whoa, so useful! Thank you so very much! Though it took me a while to find out how to do the first step. I searched around and just used the slice tool though. (Is that even how you're supposed to do it...?) Anyways, thanks so much!

Why not just make a grid that shows the middle, then select one side with the Marquee tool, copy&paste it, Ctrl+T, flip horizontal, get it in the right spot then merge down?

You know setting up a Photoshop action after recording will do that for you once you press play? You pretty much just repeated what was said in the tutorial, but "Paste in Place" removes the need to re-position it manually

i never thought to do that but it makes SO MUCH SENSE for weapons and armor - things that need that intricacy.

For those that don't know, you can use the crop tool to get the guideline dead center. Select the entire canvas with the crop tool and the guide will snap to the center of it, then just press escape to exit the crop selection.

Hey, that sword on the bottom left corner with a rectangler blade... what are those kind of swords called?

justcallmefaye In reply to BeamishBalthazar [2013-10-09 17:31:42 +0000 UTC]

swords without points are historically known as executioner's swords, as they're only used for chopping. they might have some other name in this more fantasy setting, though.
