Cyclone, depicted in a surreal half and half world.Inspired by the song by Evanescence- βImaginaryβ
Done for Kizzy's contest [link] ,
because DAMN if I couldn't help illustrating one of my favorite songs,
and one of my favorite Gals!

Imaginary:

*raise hand* that's very very beautiful, I love the clock especially. But your lyrics are incorrect! Would you like the real ones? They are very good lyrics I think, it's one of my favourite songs. Amy Lee can be so damn hard to understand though @_@

And as for the look to the clock, I just used a little bit of water color. Sienna and Terra Cotta just washed over in splotches ^^

I love the dream-like quality to this and how the two halves seem divided by more of a tear or instability rather than a clean, balanced cut. In this case, I felt the tear appearance works very well for the confliction of the desire for the imaginary realm and the inescapable anchor to reality. More specifically on the realms, with the imaginary one I like how the flowers came out in the rolling field of swirling substance and the dark tones of the purple sky with misty lavender clouds. I definitely agree with Kizzy when she noted how youβve incorporated parts of the song into it. That was very nicely done.
With the reality half, I like how itβs depicted as a bleak, desolate wasteland with gray skies, and the single, dead tree in the distance was a nice touch too. I also thought it was really cool how the clock came out with the warped appearance of its hand and how the dirty, smudgy, cracked quality of the clock fits nicely with the symbolism of reality. Realms aside, the final part is Cyclone herself. I love the emotion she portrays as she tries to escape from the pain of the wasteland, and at the same time, how she longs for the realm of amethyst skies.

Kizzy, you just inspire me to really push myself. Plus I just seem to really like putting Cy in places, that I think work well for her. First it was the water tree, and the weird bg, and now this. If I keep drawing her, I'm gonna end up being a whiz at bg's X3
