Description

Gatekeeper on Echinacea, it was far too friendly and didn't mind me being so close at all...

Lucky you. Looks like it's very hungry.

Thanks Irena [:

It was on the Coneflower for a good long while and didn't seem the slightest bit worried with the big lens in its face!

It seems coneflowers have tendency to keep them occupied.

The Coneflowers are great for Butterflies, but I'm sure you've heard of Buddleija's? They're by far the best for them

I have lots of other 'Butterfly friendly' flowers that have seen little interest from them! At least the Bees are enjoying them... And we need all the Bees we can get at the moment

Yep, Butterfly Bush is one of the best to find butterflies on, and I always check any I see.

Lucky you All of the many Butterflies I've seen this summer have taunted me, flying whenever I get within range or when I just reach for the camera but most seem only to have touched down for mere seconds!

I got very lucky this year with the Butterflies Beki, a lot of them allowed me to get very close... Generally I used the wind and only moved when there was a gust - they tend not to notice you moving, use the same approach with birds too

Hmm, interesting tip, thank you, I'll have to try it out.
