Description wanted to see some more Avatar women, and because it has been a while since I've posted anything, I thought that would be a good place to start. My apartment recently burned down, so I wasn't even sure if I still had enough props to put together a good image. As it turned out, my hard drives survived, so I should be good to go! Now I just need inspiration.

I liked Avatar...LIKED it. The story was just Dances With Wolves in space and they were after a metal called unobtanium...very creative.

Also, the movie had a very limited perspective. If humanity actually makes it to the stars without destroying itself, I have to think that we would have a more evolved outlook on things...like Star Trek. Unlike Star Trek, Avatar assumes that we will be just like we were 100 years ago a hundred years from now. Yes there will still be corporations, but it's doubtful the galactic community will let us blow up somebody's world. If the galaxy is a hostile place, then somebody will have probably already blown it up for the unobtanium.

What I did like about Avatar aside from the stunning visuals was the world of possibilities it left open. Now that we've been kicked off of Pandora, we will need to open diplomatic relations with the Na'vi, and since we blew up their tree, there will need to be nation building and trade negotiations. We will need better structures for the diplomats who will need avatars for themselves and their secretaries. Once the local folk have been "nicely" educated, they can start filling the positions themselves. So there will need to be office buildings Starbucks, McDonald's, and night clubs.

That's my story anyway!

The Na'vi textures were downloaded from sharecg. If anybody knows who created it, I'll gladly give them credit.
The other props were purchased from Renderosity, RuntimeDNA, and/or DAZ3D.

I adjusted the textures and set the poses. I also tried doing indirect lighting, but it was taking way too long, so I just used ray tracing. I know the Na'vi are furry and not shiny, so let's just say that she used product on her fur

I'm still not happy with the lighting, but if I didn't just wrap it up, I would never post anything, so here you go.

Thanks
I haven't had much time to work on anything lately, but I would like to keep exploring the Avatar theme. I also want to redo this one using slightly different textures and lighting.

Thank you for doing this.
Not use to seeing them with a perm hair do considering the bio interaction/link they achieve by
bonding with the never endings in their hair but you could say they are trying to "fit in" at this point.
Hope she's the first of many!

Oh yeah...the bonding thing. Let's just say for now she has a ponytail that we can't see and they now have hair stylists who can work with their physiology.

That's what I'm thinking is that with the nation building necessary after we blew up their tree and homes, we also introduce a bit of our culture. We still need the unobtanium (sheesh, I hate that name) so we do what we need to in order to get it while playing nice.
Wow, I think we've now officially put more thought into Avatar than James Cameron did!
