Description YAY! My first wolf picture in my gallery

I thought it was time to draw any animal pics again

This is a character of one of my favorite childhood series -
The Jungle Book as an anime (but definitly not to compare with the anime style today !)

Alexander (more known as father wolf in the books) is Mowgli's father and in the begining the leader of the wolf pack. Unfortunately he died in a fight against ShirKhan to save Moglie (that's what's the story about in the anime)

It's really sad there aren't not many episodes of this show in YT anymore Only a few in English and Hindi, but also a few in German and in Spanish (I saw when I was zapping through Youtube)...

Here are some clips of Alexander, if you are interested in to take a look of this show:

I've always loved his character design. Pity he was killed off so early in the series. Great likeness of him!

I so agree! I was always disappointed that Alexander had almost NO screentime in the show compared to other characters
I also wondered how an alternative story would have been, if Alexander would have never died ...

God! how could I ever forget him
He's such an awesome wolf being as a lovable father.

Speaking about the show. I wish I was part of their story in real life as a wolf

Alexander is definitly one of my fav wolf characters of this show, too It's sooo sad he had to die in this series ... I sometimes imagine, how any scenes could like shown, when Alexander would be still alive ...

You're not the only one When I watched this show as a kid the nearly whole time, I wanted to be a wolf, too because wolves (and also foxes) are my absolutly favorite animals

THHHHX!!!

This anime is sooo much better than the Disney movie, if you like more to see the wolves in it
Yeah, most of the wolves look a little strange there e.g. Lala, the granddaughter of Akela, is purple/ pink, her father (Akela's son) Vermillion is orange...

Alexander is a very nice character. I think it's very sad you don't see more of him in this show Only in the begining...
Thanks to this anime, I began to love wolves and thanks to Farthing Wood, I also began to love foxes

I'm a little bit surprised that this anime is so unknown here

I loved this serie. I had them all on videocassette, but now the cassettes are so old, that the voice has gone (*swearing*) And besides in Finnish version there was cut much off from original series, and everybody hadn't names... For example Father wolf was only Father wolf and then was Mother wolf. And there never explained that Sambura (Lala's father) and Father wolf had fight for Mother wolf etc...

But I am sad 'cause I haven't found this serie from any shop (in Finnish or with Finnish subtitles). It was SO good serie!<3 I saw this drawing and then I started to miss whole anime! (Fortunately it is not drew with "real" anime-style... Although I like anime, I would not like if this serie drew with it kind of style...)

And what I have tried to say whole the time; great drawing!

THHHHX!!!

It's very sad that this anime isn't on TV now It was 2 or 3 years agon on TV in Germany and before it came on networks, I loved to watch it everytime since when I was like 3 years old
That's interesting to hear that Lala's father has another name in Finnish Actually (as far as I heard) his name is Vermillion (also in the German version)...
Mother Wolf (Luri) has mentioned some time that she liked Vermillion, too but at the end, she decides to live together with Alexander My favorit scene was when Vermillion returned to his old wolf pack and where then his pack was against Mowgli, because they made bad expierences with humans... Vermillion and Thunder were my favs of this pack

I had recorded the whole series from TV years ago, but meanwhile the tapes are almost broken It's sooo sad, that this show isn't out there on DVD
In my opinion this show is sooo much better than the Disney movie Because I love to see the wolves in there

I saw a Finnish opening on YT of it
Here's the link:
[link]

Unfortunately there are only any episodes in English and Hindi on YT meanwhile

THHHHHHHX soooo much again

Cista-Nana In reply to xero87 [2009-02-01 18:23:18 +0000 UTC]

yeah, I didn't know that Thunder-wolf's name in English, but I think I know who you are talking about, and Finnish-name is "Sanda"... I think it is stupid to change their names! Is there other names to Mowgli's brothers too? In Finnish their names are Sura (the grey one) and Saru (the brown one)...

On some net-page I once saw there was a picture of video tape, I mean not recorded video, about this series. But I haven't found this kind of videos anywhere. Neither more than DVD-version... _( Stupid...

Also many of my other "childhood favourites" are on the video, and also there voices are sometimes... hmm... disappeared. (For example so it has happened with Willy Fog and Babar...)

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xero87 In reply to Cista-Nana [2009-02-01 18:40:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, Thunder is the similar looking like wolf as Alexander (who is to see on Vermillion's side everytime)... I think to change their names is stupid, too
Sura is also in German and in the other languages and the brown one is called Akru actually The funny thing is that Akru is a girl in the German version A mistake from the producers, who thought he's a girl, because the Japanese language sounded girlie-like

I also loved Babar A further favorite childhood series
Yes, it's really annoying this awesome shows from those days aren't there on DVD And as we know, the tapes from VHS won't last long

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cista-Nana In reply to xero87 [2009-02-01 18:46:14 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I have so, so, so many series and movies on VHS, and my video has broken some of them already, that I have a long time thought maybe I should re-record them from VHS to DVD... 'cause as we know, VHS isn't the best alternative for movies etc. xP

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xero87 In reply to Cista-Nana [2009-02-01 19:34:15 +0000 UTC]

yes, in this case VHS is crap...
To re-record from VHS to DVD is a great alternative, if you could do it

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cista-Nana In reply to xero87 [2009-02-02 21:23:33 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I could, but it is not useful 'cause my Mowgli-VHS series are lost their voices.. It is same if I watch the show from VHS or DVD if I had to watch without hearing their speaking. >:/ Stupid video cassettes...

Even this quiz game shows had more brain then than nowadays Today I really think if we all should go gaga with this shows... And the cartoons aren't better though
In my opinion after Pokemon was on TV, it only came crap copies like this ... *sigh* I wish I could live in the 90s again

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Cista-Nana In reply to xero87 [2009-02-03 13:23:07 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, where are all the good series, like Zorro, Batman, Farthing Wood... Nowadays there is only some Digimon and Yuki Oh, which I can't stand...

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

xero87 In reply to Cista-Nana [2009-02-03 14:11:25 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh, Zorro I still remember the anime version and the American series - both were soooo great *dream*

Yes, nowadays shows like SpongeBob, YuGiOh, Digimon, Pokemon and Naruto only come on TV... In my opinion no wonder, that the kids of today are so some kinds stupid....

Alexander looks nice! ^^ Good job with the coloring (again)!

About the Anime.. when you described it, I began to get flashbacks. o_O Then when I checked the clips, I was like: "OHMYGOSH! It's that serie!"
I have watched it on VHS in Swedish when I borrowed it from the library a long time ago. I didn't know it was Anime though, I just watched it. I think the story is so sad... It also had some dramatic scenes. I remember the fight between Mowgli and the tiger (wasn't his name spelled Sherikhan?) most clearly, also the three Baloo, Mowgli and Baghera were sleeping under.
I really liked this serie when I was a kid, although it made me cry once or twice.

Wow, all these memories... x) Funny though, I had this flasback last week too. o_o

xero87 In reply to Ghostbusterlover [2009-02-01 17:10:37 +0000 UTC]

I watch this series since I was 3 years old It's an old show actually It came out 89 or 90 I think I didn't know it was an Anime before, too - but when you read the names of the producers in the outro, you see it's Japenese, so I guess it is an Anime

Yes, this show has any dramatic and sad scences in it, but this is exactly what I like on this series... Alexander's death was the dramaticst ones, I think, but the saddest scene I think, where I'm still crying everytime when I watch it, is Akela's death The most excited part was when Mowgli fighted against ShirKhan and killed him

I began to watch this series again, when I talked with an friend about the Disney Jungle Book movie In my opinion this show is sooo much better than the Disney version

๐Ÿ‘: 0 โฉ: 1

Ghostbusterlover In reply to xero87 [2009-02-02 07:33:23 +0000 UTC]

89 or 90? Oh, then it wasn't so much old. And I don't remember the outro at all. :ยดD

I like dramatic and sad scenes too. But sometimes it's just too much. xยดD Akela? Who was that again?

I think I'll watch it again, if I find it in the library. ^^ The Anime version is indeed much better than the Disney version (I didn't like the Disney version anyway).

Yes, it is sad... They were the golden age (or silver age, depends what we can call it).

Speaking about re-runs.. there's a cinema downtown that's going to show some old movies this Saturday, one of them is my favorite Marx Brothers film "A Day at the Races" - that B&W movie is from 1937!

xero87 In reply to Ghostbusterlover [2009-02-06 21:20:14 +0000 UTC]

The outro was nice to look... there you could see little pictures next to the names If I find it, I'll send you the link

Akela is the oldest wolf in this pack. And in the first way, he's the leader, too

I agree definitly I don't like the Disney version so much... It's too show-like... Not really like the original version one by Richard Kypling...
