Wow, this pic caused me a terrible headache!
At least and after several days of inactivity, here it is the sixth and last of the Gemstone Series, Opal.
God knows how long took me to decide...well, almost everything about ths drawing. I wanted this to be the most magical and ethereal of the series, that's the reason for all the light effects and for having so many layers in my .psd file xD
By the way, tell me the truth, do you really like the opal-lightball-something that the girl holds? or is too...crappy haha. I think is quite bad done but well...I accept critiques :/

Honestly, I love the picture; the elements are wonderful and the colors/contrast are very nice, but I don't like how there is no true stone in the pic. All your oter gemstone pics have a true example of their namesake in one way or another in the picture. It'd be one thing if the color was bursting out of an opal in her hand, but this just looks like a well executed picture of a magic show. Still very beautiful in its own right, but not well connected to the gemstone theme.
Just my own opinion.

As you say I wanted to make a magical and ethereal scene with some light effects, and rather than showing the stone itself, I turned it into a bright thing which is the focus of the light. So it's implicit that the stone is there, however, it's not visible, so technically you're right about the theme coherence.
Someday I look forward to make some improvements to this artwork, the same as I did with other two Gemstones, so I take notice of your comment.

aunq no se compara con la primera (sorry, obsidian t qedo insuperable) el concepto esta muy bueno, personalmente ubiera puesto unas lineas parecidas a las q recorren el cuerpo saliendo de los ojos, pero bueno, tu eres el artista.

mmm...I don't know exactly what you mean :S
the brightness caused by the powerful light blocks the vision of things next to the focus, in this case, the opal stone. So the left hand it's in part invisible, though you can notice the shape of the fingers huh? And the right one is more visible because it's not as close to the focus.
Is that what you referred to?
