Production Notes

The Panther series is the standard humanoid fighter line up of both the AFTA and the UNAC forces. Primarily built for ground combat with some converted for space combat roles, Panthers are probably the most reliable humanoid fighters of its day.

The Panther G-3 is a modernized version of the aging G-1 type, built specifically for urban combat.
Notable features on the Panther G-3 are the leg missile launchers, and a new arm design featuring weapon mounts, thus increasing the weapons payload and further utilizing the model's arm strength. The weapons can be ejected off their mounts. The G-3 type also features additional armor, most noticeably on its front, and reinforced with depleted uranium.

Panther G-3 uses the same backpack as the G-1 type. The powerplant however, is a modified version of the G-1's hydrogen engine. The output is thus significantly increased, while minimizing fuel consumption.

Despite all these upgrades, the Panther G-3 still suffered a major flaw—the model still uses the outdated inner frame of the older Panther variants, which means fairly limited movement relative to current standards. Nevertheless, the Panther G-3 served as the bridge between the second and third generation humanoid fighters.

Side Notes
-Panther G-3 is originally designed as a close combat model, until the designer realized that urban warfare does not always mean CQC
-The G-3 type is nicknamed Gray Panther because of its urban color scheme

As before, I used the pen tool for the coloring, thanks to the almighty for the awesome vectoring technique way back. Anyway, compare this with [link] for the lulz.

Wouldn't Depleted uranium be too heavy? The ceramic/ titanium composite would suit well enough if drop forged correctly, right?

The whole thing does not entirely use depleted uranium actually. DU is only present on the extra front armor plates (those missing in this one [link] ). ^^

alright, because it's really freeking dense. DU is sortof soft, depending on how it was forged though. Sorry, I just know a lot about metals. DU's good munitions.

Of course 19.1 grams per cubic cm is quite a lot. And yep, it does make good munitions; sparks violently indeed.

Something that dense has a lot of momentum when moving faster than normal bullets (M1-A1 rounds and Bradley tank 30 mil rounds I mean, and many mech-type concepts use heavy 28 millimeter DU armored pierving incindiaries,[read somewhere]) won't be stoppedmy much. the energy has to go somewhere right? yeah, that's called friction. Gotta love military superiority, although we're doing it wrong.

Looks like I'll be retconning weapons with unspecified ammo fire DU APs.

Thanks. I guess I overdid the detailing here though.

Nah I disagree, I don't think you can add too much detail, well I guess its possible, but that's just my opinion.

I also just noticed the missle pack on the legs, cool idea, though I never thought about placing it in that location on a mech.

Actually, that launcher setup was already taken by the J-type Zaku II . I've simply added more missiles.
