I don't think they're planning on continuing the series, even with a new story arc. The 2006 version was stretching the fans' patience, I think.

If the demand is high enough and the network is willing to give it a chance (and provide a better budget so they can do a better story arc) then it could be possible I think

I don't think any of those things are likely to happen anytime soon. Seeing what the reboot turned out to be, very few fans will be demanding any more episodes, and because the reboot didn't actually do that well, no network will want to take the risk with it. It's just not worth the funding, and I as a longtime fan agree.

Wow...this is perfect. I love these new designs! And yeah-I hated what they did in the new series. The ideas had potential (regenerator to bring back water and life), but the execution was terrible. What I hated the most (besides the quality of the art-Charley looks great with short hair, and I could live with the bros being slimmed down, but they took away their cute buck teeth!) is what they did with Charley and Vinnie's relationship. Their playful banter was pure comedic gold, and they made her so much more passive...and Vinnie a whiny manchild. He was never THAT immature in the original.
Anyway, these are great. I love the new inform design you gave Vinnie. And Charley looks great with short hair and the freckles are a nice touch. Perfect ^^

I agree, there was a lot of potential in the new series. I feel that many of the ideas for the episodes would have been great had they been tackled in a fourth season rather than in the reboot. Maybe then we would have seen an uncensored reunion and reacquaintance between Vinnie and Charley.
I find that much of my problem with the new series actually lies in the lack of complexity within each character. Vinnie was immature, yes, but he was also exceptionally brave, incredibly loyal, and exceedingly competent as a soldier. He even displayed a certain degree of gravitas when the situation was tense and there was no one around to perform for. Compare his dismissive bravado in front of Charley when Throttle and Modo were captured by the Pit Boss to the violent interrogation scene in the bar. He was savagely beating goons and questioning his suspect with such ferocity that it was almost a complete 180 from his normal chirpy, hyped-up demeanor.
Scenes like that revealed a depth of character in all the series' protagonists and antagonists, and that was what the 2006 series lacks. Vinnie is an irresponsible, unreliable moron instead of a bold soldier with a heart of gold who was able to calculate risks and get results 99% of the time. Throttle is a bland cookie-cutter leader figure instead of a sassy warrior who knew when to switch from business-mode to playful-mode. Modo is a typically boring all-muscles-no-brain stereotype instead of a competent, street-wise combatant who knew his bike and her capabilities inside-out and was the first to jump in on the witty banter. *sobs into infinity*

I really like this "analysis" about the strong selling points of the characters in the 1996 show and the (lack of) characterization in the 2006 reboot: you have written everything I always thought about the new serie.
It (the cartoon) was sadly a rip off for the original one and, I think, it also prevented further developing of the saga, since it didn't manage to "create" new fans nor to please the old ones.
As far as I'm concerned, I really couldn't stand the new Throttle and Vinnie was so "flat" and stereotyped he was real a pain to listen: in the way he was portraied in 2006, you really had to wonder why a competent, intelligent woman as Charley choses to leave Earth for him. In 1996 you knew why she would have done so!
BTW, lovely drawing! I like the new outfit you designed: it has steampunk-ly vibes I enjoy very much.
Also, the little touch of making them look at the other's lips rather than in the eyes makes the whole thing a lot more sensual. And I love your Vinnie's white eyelashes...

Holy frijoles..... This is soooooooooo gorgeous!
I can't even really articulate right now... words are just lihagieag;ileha;girghiehaihrgiea;gieh
1> I missed Limburger and his self-loathing, pretentious, pompous villainy
2> She hugs him and cries when he first returns to Earth, and admonishes him for leaving her hanging for so many years- and that's all we get. Stupid-ass censors dictating that their relationship needed to be swept under the rug when the new series was in pre-production. All. my. rage.
3> I just lurv, lurv, LURV these updated Freedom Fighter uniforms you have designed for them!
Like, omigod, MOAR!

Limburger was a fantastic villain. He was awful, but oh man was he also very likable! I hate all the villains in the reboot. There's no depth! It been dumbed down for the next generation to the point where it's grating. The old series never pandered to its audience; the writing was witty and intelligent, and the plots were fun and inventive.
I mean, I can try and reconcile in my head a reason for the distance between Vinnie and Charley, as the song in my description kind of hints at. I imagine that there's still a lot of attraction and fondness between the two, but in my head Vinnie's keeping her at arms length to avoid having to re-live the pain of their previous farewell. And because he's a stubborn idiot incapable of discussing actual feelings, it never gets brought up. So he's preparing himself to say goodbye once more, while she knows deep down that she can't ever let the guys go again, deciding in advance to go back with them when the time came. And when she does voice this decision, he instantly stops seeing theirs as a hopeless love and begins to regain the anticipation and optimism he felt in the original series. That's what I tell myself to help me sleep at night, anyways.
Eugh! EUGH! THERE WAS AN OPPORTUNITY TO PUT THE GUYS IN SEXY MARTIAN ARMED FORCES UNIFORMS AND IT WAS COMPLETELY IGNORED! *flails rabidly on the floor, foaming at the mouth*
