i like the actors and actresses in the show too but there where some characters described totally different in the books... (or did i just imagine them differently? )

hm, i thought arya stark would look really different but sansa is perfect! Also i like how they aged everyone up because if they didn't that would have been sooo weird

imo the best fitting actor was sean bean!
he did an awesome job in the lord of the rings and an even better one in ASoIaF!
the point with the age...
that they aged robb and jon isnt that bad because they where old enough to be called adults in ASoIaF but aging sansa just was wrong imo...
i couldnt feel as much pity for her as i felt in the books when joffrey bullied her because she was old enough to protect herself like the wildling woman do when they dont like their husbands...
and in the books having dreams of princes and heroes looked normal for her considering her young age but in the series she just looked spoiled to much...
just my opinion thought... ^^

i definitely agree about sean bean. I also agree with rob and jon because you are right they were basically adults.

i think that in the books sansa was so young at only 11 to be seen as a sexual being, and while in that time and age that might have been okay, in this time and age it would be completely inappropriate. It's not to say either is wrong or right it just would never have been able to air. With Sansa being 14/15 i don't think that really diminishes her dreams of finding love because after all i believe that is a universal dream. The reason that she doesn't fight against Joffrey is not because she is unable to or doesn't want to but because she is smart enough to know the dire consequences that both she and her family will endure if she displeases him. After all it is not really joffrey that she would be fighting but fully grown and trained knights that do Joffrey's bidding.

I think where the age thing really looks a bit weird is with daenerys because while her decisions and rationalizations look completely normal for a fourteen year old to make they seem very immature and silly with a seventeen year old. But again same thing with sansa they couldn't air by saying she was only fourteen.

Sorry I wrote another novel. I have a bad habit, oh well

i have that bad habit as well...
just my English is not as good as yours...

about sansa...
hmm well ok i forgot about the third book which is coming in the next season of the show...
imo the first 2 seasons they could use a younger actress but after her marriage they definitely need a older sansa!
or they could just skip the naked scenes with tyrion but well the producers surely know better than me what to do...

daenerys is even more problematic then sansa you know... ^^
she married with a young age so to make it fit the producers of the show made her older...

ahh well enough talked about the differences between book and series...
what is interesting me more is the actual story...
so if you finished reading the fifth book we can talk about theories if you like!
just tell me some of your theories (write as much as you want) and we can discuss them tomorrow because its late (2:45 a.m.) here in germany and i should get a little bit of sleep...

ja, aber miene Deutsch ist nich so gut. Ich habe viel vergessen

Yes, I have finished the fifth book! And the only thing I am hoping is that jon snow is not dead because that would be just the worst. I can't really surmise if he is dead or not because George R.R. Martin loves to play with us.

Prophesy plays a big part in the story. What I am most curious to know about is who is the young queen that will take over from Cersei. We have so many options! Ugh I don't think it will be margery, so I'm leaning heavily towards either sansa or Daenerys. I have this little fantasy going on where Aegon, Sansa and Daenerys are the three heads of the dragon. that probably won't happen but i can dream right?

Speaking of Ageon he was such a wild card! Another group of people I'm curious about is the Martell girls. However they sort of owe their allegiance to the Targaryens they're probably going to side with Aegon or Daenerys.

Are the character's names spelled the same in German as they are in English?

hmm no the names are a little bit different but i have the internet on my side so i will most likely make no mistake...
for example the name "Lannister" is called "Lennister" in German so there is no big difference and its easy to learn... ^^

hmm well after the death of robb i am not sure myself if jon is dead or not...
the injury he got isn't just a scratch you know...
if i remember right 4 dagger hit him...
maybe he is dead but there is melisandre with him so maybe he will be revived?
you know red priests have this ability...

i love the prophesies in ASoIaF!
you can turn the words like you want and at the end GRRM still will surprise you...
you gave an awesome example with the queen who will replace cersei...
right now it looks like it margaery but cersei said she is not beautiful enough!
who else we have as an option?
there is sansa, daenerys, asha, arianne and i even considered jeyne westerling and arya...
once i even thought myrcella could become queen...
wouldn't it be ironical if you got replaced by your own daughter?
but she lost her ear and with it her beauty so its most likely one of the above... ^^
sansa is of course one of my top favorite...
she has already a rivalry with cersei and no one should underestimate petyr baelishs ability to manipulate... ^^
but daenerys looks more likely because she has 3 dragons and an army and she is already a queen!
even thought on the wrong side of the sea...
asha is the successor of balon greyjoy so she just need to take over the seastone chair from her uncle...
but its not that likely that it will happen...
arianne could marry aegon and became queen so he could get the support of the martells...
jeyne is already a queen but she lost her king...
did you ever considered that the jeyne that jaime met at riverrun was fake?
because i cant believe that brynden tully would left her back and escape himself...
and jaime described her appearance different then catelyn...
i hope she is pregnant from robb and that she run away with brynden!
a descendant of robb sounds to good to be true right? ^^
but if it happens we have a new king in the north! (or a queen )

and the prophesy about the three headed dragon is even more tricky... ^^
daenerys is the first head that's clear...
but is the second head really aegon?
his introduction was just to surprising you know...
maybe he is not a targaryen but a descendant of a blackfyre...
you know the rebels who fought against the targaryens for the iron throne but lost and send to exile...
in the books its said that the male line got extinct but that's the tricky part...
GRRM said the "male line"...
so what happened to the female blackfyre?
its most likely that one of the female blackfyre descendants got a son with the features of a targaryen...
why else should the golden company who was founded by a blackfyre supporter help a targaryen to take over the iron throne?
and there was a part in the books you maybe remember...
the story that septon meribald told to brienne about the "old inn"...
here is a quote right from the book:
"...He forged a new sign for the yard, a three-headed dragon of black iron that he hung from a wooden post. The beast was so big it had to be made in a dozen pieces, joined with rope and wire. When the wind blew it would clank and clatter, so the inn became known far and wide as the Clanking Dragon."
"Is the dragon sign still there?" asked Podrick.
"No," said Septon Meribald. "When the smith's son was an old man, a bastard son of the fourth Aegon rose up in rebellion against his trueborn brother and took for his sigil a black dragon. These lands belonged to Lord Darry then, and his lordship was fiercely loyal to the king. The sign of the black iron dragon made him wroth, so he cut down the post, hacked the sign to pieces, and cast them into the river. One of the dragon's heads washed up on the Quiet Isle many years later, though by that time it was red with rust."
targaryens use a red dragon as their sigil and a black dragon is the sigil of house blackfyre...
after their defeat the blackfyres were diminished in number and forced across the narrow sea ("[he] hacked the [black dragon] to pieces, and cast them into the river")...
could this passage foreshadow the reappearance of a blackfyre heir ("one of the dragon's heads") on westeros's eastern shore whom, given the amount of time since blackfyres were defeated, everyone takes for a targaryen instead ("by that time it was red with rust")?
sounds like GRRM right? ^^
but like illyrio once said to tyrion...
"Black or red, a dragon is still a dragon." so maybe he will become one of the heads...
who knows what GRRM plans to do...

ahh well there is still the third head... ^^
imo it needs to be a targaryen or at least a "dragon"...
there is one theory i read and i really like it...
what if jon snow is not the son of eddard stark?
maybe he is the son of lyanna and rhaegar and ned promised his sister that he will look after jon like his own son...
this theory would explain alot...
for example why three of the kingsguard protected the entrance of the tower where lyanna was...
the kingsguard is responsible of protecting the king and his family but why should three of them protect lyanna if she is not pregnant with rhaegars son?
and the two women who are said to be jons mother (the one in dorne and the fishermans daughter) could just be wet nurses who watched after him during eddards trip back to the north...
and its understandable that he said he is his son after the things happened to the children of rhaegar...
of course if this theory is right jon is still a bastard because rhaegar was married and had rightful children...
and jon is the lord commander of the nights watch so he cant leave the wall...
but this theory could make it possible that jon is azor ahai...
you maybe remember that a woods witch prophesied that the "Prince That Was Promised" would be born from the line of aerys II and rhaella...
if the theory about jon is true he is a descendant of them...

oh god i have written to much...
sry for that...

I'm sort of in love with your novel

As George R.R. Martin has continuously demonstrated we really have no clue who is actually alive and who is actually dead. Even life and death continue to cross boarders as with white walkers and then how Catelyn Stark is not really dead, which is sort of creepy. But yes it is still a toss up.

The problem with all of these prophesies is that we never really know what they mean until after they happen. Like there are so many prospective queens, all who are quite beautiful. I think that sadly Jeyne is not pregnant with Robb's baby. Mostly because of her mother and the tea she was making absolutely positive to give her every single night and she still wasn't getting pregnant. I think that perhaps mummy was giving her the wrong tea on purpose. Also you are totally right to say never underestimate Petyr. Every time I keep reminding myself that and every time...

i never considered that Jon could be the son of Raegar and Lyanna! Now that I consider it it's actually quite good. It would explain the discrepancies in Eddard Stark's character that Jon's existence presents. It would also explain why Ned was so reluctant to talk about it with anyone even Catelyn and Jon himself. Although it does say in the book that the King has the power to make the Kingsguard guard whomever he so chooses, in this case being Lyanna.

I am also quite curious as to what Brandon Stark and the Reeds are up too. They seem to be in the center of a lot of Magic and a lot of prophesies. Given the fact that the rest of the world believes them to be dead they have a severe advantage.

There are just so many plot points and story lines that it is hard to keep them all straight! Also all my views and wants are colored by my penchants for certain characters. Like I adore almost all the starks so I always tend to think that they are going to come out victorious. Also I love happy endings so i always want all good things for everyone so i try to construct scenarios in which everyone has one. It's sort of funny.
I am dying for the next book to come out! It will be interesting to see how many he writes!
