Description

Name: Thessa Hjort [Pronounced: 'thes-sah yorth']
She will answer to other names as well, such as 'Tess' or 'Tessie', though she isn't used to hearing it from anyone other than her brother.

Age: 19

Sex: Female

Rank: Soldier

Faction: Militar Polizei

Marks: 3 980

Skill points: 0

Species: Absol

Height: 5'7" / 170 cm

Weight: 138 lbs / 68 kg

Moves:
Bite
PP 25 || PW 60 || ACC 100
Thessa darts towards her opponent, delivering a sharp jab to a nerve point. On a Colossi, this tends to be the ankles, should she be fighting from the ground. Her weapon blade will glow a faded violet and the wound will burn with an icy feeling, making it more painful and distracting than a regular attack.

Perish Song
PP 5 || PW --- || ACC ---
A last resort tactic. Thessa is surrounded by a dark aura, the gem embedded on her forehead turning transparent like glass, showing an swirling, black-and-purple core. She sings, her voice amplified, a lullaby taught to her by her brother (it works with any song, but it's the only one she knows). Anyone who hears her voice will fall unconscious, leaving them vulnerable. Colossi are affected as well, though the effects can range from falling unconscious as well, or simply being left dazed. Regardless, Thessa herself will fall into a coma that will last anywhere between three days to a week. Provided she isn't killed during that period, she will wake up weakened but able. Overuse will kill her though.

Personality:
Cheater: Be it cards or fighting, Thessa has no qualms about cheating to win.
Determined: Once she's set her mind on something, it's difficult for her to give up, though she will if convinced that doing otherwise is pointless.
Bloodlust: Be it training or battle, she may go overboard, pushing herself to the limits no matter how trivial a fight. The longer the fight, the less she listens to commands.
Alert: Having her DNA spliced with an Absol has left her with a greater understanding of her surroundings. While her senses are not amplified, she has a sixth sense that allows her to be more aware of her environment than most.
Quiet: 'Do not speak unless spoken to,' is what her brother taught her. As such, she keeps most thoughts to herself, though she doesn't mind sharing what they are is asked. Whether she really does say what she's thinking depends on your relationship with her.
Cheerful: Despite everything (and that she doesn't seem like it most of the time), she is a happy person who has somehow managed to remain an optimist despite her upbringing. Though she isn't exactly jumping for joy, she isn't above humming little tunes as she walks around.
Mostly illiterate: She can't read or write very well, having had little chance to do so.
No sense of humor: She's the kind of person who has to have jokes explained to her. It's not that she ignores it, she honestly just doesn't get it.

History:
TL;DR
Raised by brother on the streets.
Was taught how to read and write, but only a little. Learned more on how to steal and survive.
Got her injection when she was twelve and was in pain for two weeks.
Four years later, her brother died, a casualty from a Swinub Colossi's Ice Crash.
Joined the army after seeing a group of Stationare Garde three years later.

Long version:
Thessa was born within the walls, near the great structures themselves. Her family was poor, hardly able to support what was once a family of three. Esben Hjort, her older brother by fourteen years, had already undergone the DNA experiment, his cells merged with that of a Flygon. Upon overhearing their parents discussing how they would dispose of baby Thessa (what else could they do? They couldn't afford another mouth to feed), the young boy took his little sister and ran away.

For most of her life, Thessa lived on the streets with Esben. He taught her things. How to read, how to write, though such lessons were far and in-between. Survival was their biggest objective. By the time she could walk on her own, Esben had learned things on his own (and with help from fellow street urchins). How to steal, who would beat you up if they caught you, who would maim you and leave you bleeding in an alley, which gangs would let you in, which ones would rip you apart for trespassing.... Thessa learned from Esben. To live. To survive.

The streets was no place for a kind childhood. Though Esben cared for her, he would push her around at times, not above smacking her if she tried to do something he didn't approve of. That was fine though, she told herself, that was fine because Esben was only trying to keep her safe. She believed that even when he took her to the tall building for her injection. She believed that even when pain wracked her body for what felt like years but was only two weeks. When she opened her eyes, her hair had turned white, save for a black streak on her right side. The acorn brown locks that had once curled at her shoulders were shorter and straight. There was another thing, an oval-shaped gem on her forehead, smooth and cool to the touch. It wasn't until she saw herself in a mirror that she noticed the last change. Her eyes, once a gray-blue shade, had turned a rusty-red shade.

The first thing she did once she had recovered enough to leave was to look for Esben. Thessa found him in one of their small safehouses and they were reunited once more. Life was getting better. Now stronger than before, it was easier for Thessa to keep up with her brother. Her newfound awareness made it easier to steal, be it food or coin. Life was good... for four more years, at least.

It happened on Esben's birthday. For reasons unknown, they wandered too far and found themselves in their old neighbourhood. They couldn't see their old home yet, but it was close by. Thessa turned to her brother to see what he wanted to do. Before he could make up his mind though, there was a breach in the wall. Not a major one, but big enough that a N-class Colossi got in. It was a Swinub. It tried to attack, but the Stationare Garde were already moving to bring it down. It was an Icicle Crash that brought everything down. Clumps of ice forming in midair as the Colossi roared, balls of hardened water raining down on anything unfortunate enough to be under it.

Before Thessa could make full sense of it, Esben was pushing her in the other direction, yelling at her to run. Automatically, she obeyed, though not before catching a glance of her brother spreading his wings, taking off in the direction of the fight. 'Their home,' she realized. Esben was going home. Her feet were already carrying her towards their nearest safehouse before she processed that fully and when she did, she skidded to a stop, spinning around, falling, scraping her knees, gritting her teeth against the pain, and running back towards the fight.

Too late. By the time she got back, the fight was over, the Colossi subdued and killed... but not without casualty. She found Esben, crushed under a stray ice boulder twice his size. The only thing she could use to identify him was one of his wings and a hand, the little scar on the back of it so familiar because she knew he'd gotten it on a robbery gone wrong. Esben Hjorth, her older brother, was dead.

It took Thessa a long while to get over Esben's death. She continued to live as normal, stealing what she couldn't afford and living off what she could get her hands on. Then, one day, on the eve of Esben's death, she saw a dozen of the Stationare Garde soldiers making their way through the streets. There were only a dozen of them, but it made her recall the sight of her brother's body, hardly visible save for a hand and wing. It made her recall the Colossi, the giant beast that had taken his life unwittingly.

She didn't even realize she had signed up to join the army until she was accepted. That was fine though. Life on the streets was a game of survival. How much more different could fighting a bunch of mutated creatures hundreds of times heavier and bigger and stronger than her be?

Reason:
To kill every last Colossi as penance for not trying to follow Esben years ago, and as revenge for her brother's death.
To live a life where she doesn't have to fight for scraps every day.

(Joining the Militar) To help her friend, Caedmon, make a change, in whatever way she can.

Sour food
Dolls (what are they? Failure attempts at voodooism?)

Other:
She has no other reason to live other than to kill the Colossi. Even knowing this, she has made no attempts to figure out what she wants to do after that. As far as she's concerned, going down fighting doesn't sound too unappealing.
She may talk to herself when alone, a habit that developed after Esben's death.
In truth, all the soldiers scare her. However, she's adjusted to the fact that she's one of them now. The commanders scare her though. The Militar Polizei faction scare her as well (blame Esben).

Right-handed

Theme song: "I Will Not Bow"

Her alcohol tolerance is below average. When drunk, she's extremely quiet.... and extremely hot-headed. The moment you piss her off (which is no great feat), she snaps and will likely throw something at you. There seems to be no limits to how many names she can call you....

Thessa's Heart Chart:

Key:

Love (Romantic) || Crush || Love (Platonic) || Close friends || Like/Friends || Dislike || Confusing || Absolute hate || Neutral

Chart:

Caedmon -

A nice person. He helped me quite a bit. The first friend I've ever had, too.

Silva -

A friendly girl. I don't know much about her other than that she has a brother here.... She seems really nice though. I like her.

Victoria -

Friendly like Silva. She seems better than me at the 'friend' business.... Maybe I should learn from her?

Chapter -

I can't tell what he's thinking. He seems determined not to get noticed, for whatever reason. Don't like him, don't hate him.

Kale -

Didn't get to talk to him much since I met him during the attack but... He seems okay. Nervous, but okay.

Silviu -

My... boyfriend, it seems... It's strange. I know I care for him dearly, and that I love him, but it's still strange...

I adore the fact instead of giving her a big ole horn/scythe thing on the side of her head you gave her a nice hair design to accommodate that x3

I also really like how you got her personality, a nice blend of the good and bad in how she acts and it ll seems to fit for her

Also at the bottom-'Oh look. A girl'

That's the way I feel when I finally made my female oc for this group since I usually do males lol

xVerdelet In reply to Lady-Moosh [2013-10-20 03:00:55 +0000 UTC]

Haha thanks. A horn just didn't seem to fit her design... Plus, a horn on the side of her head seems more of a liability than an asset when you're a thief. You can mess up your hair to make it darker, but you can't hide a frickin horn.

Personality-wise, I didn't want her an emotionless thief. Fun, but hard to use after a while. Other than that, I just thought what she might be like, as someone who came off the streets.

Ain't that the truth... Guys are way too easy.

Also, please let that be an invitation to rp XD.

I'll be slow though, since it's the last week of exams for me
