Description

Well I'm still in a Superhero mood (thanks Spider-Man games and Blue Beetle).  So here are two new-ish heroes (I actually made them months ago, but hadn't released them yet).

The Hornet - The Hornet was originally a lowly henchman for the supervillain Queen Bee.  When he finally actually met the Queen he fell in love with her, and he fell hard.  From that moment on he dedicated himself to becoming the best possible henchman he could be in order to get noticed.  When that didn't work he tried a new tactic; "borrowing" some of the tech from the vault he cobbled together a suit that granted him flight and wrist mounted "stingers".  He set out on his own as The Hornet as a way to get his love's attention.  The plan worked a little too well.  Given his considerable skills combined with his advanced flight suit The Hornet made quite the name for himself, an even bigger name than the woman he was trying to impress in the first place.

The idea here came to me while I was rewatching The Venture Bros.  My favorite character from that series is Gary, AKA Henchman 21.  I already had a character named Queen Bee, so I thought why not create a super henchman for her.  Which then in keeping with the theme of Venture Bros would then fail upward to the point he accidentally became too good.  As for the name I wanted something that wasn't already well known by one of the big two but still fit the Bee theme...which was harder than it should have been.  Luckily I live in a state that has been dealing with invasive murder hornets the past couple years, and Hornet happens to be a name not in use.

The Guardian - When Apex's true origin came to light it was decided a super was needed that could keep him in check.  The hardest part was finding the right candidate, most were the type that reveled in the idea they would be potentially stronger than Apex and clearly would take the first chance they got to test that.  But then as if manifested by the Universe itself the perfect candidate revealed itself.  The man that would become the Guardian was given the Apex treatment granting him super strength and reflexes, he also had an alien gravity drive surgically grafted to him.  This grants him the ability to control the gravity of himself and an area around him allowing him to fly, amplify his own considerable strength, and move objects without touching them.

The Guardian is a newer idea, one that I was hesitant to post given how dark the origin story I came up with for him (which I didn't actually put here, still deciding if I want to go that route or not).  I love most everything about this design; the coloring, the sleek lines, the "G" stylized as a shield.  Only thing I'm not fully in love with is the helmet/mask.  I started with something more Captain America, but realizing both DC and Marvel have a Cap-like character named Gaurdian I attempted to pivot and may have gone too generic.
