Description
Picture concept:I imagine here that Kanako (from Love Hina) has stumbled upon a feeder magazine in Keitaro's things. From what I know of her character, she might react in a manner that would result in this picture.
Picture Methods:
More testing with blue pencil + inking (for the sketch). I also used two tone shading with highlights and limited border coloring.
Quality Notes:
I probably rushed this pic too much (again)
Some of the prop items (food wrappings, etc) were drawn rather quickly, and have problems (such as being too small in proportion to the rest of the pic).

I have to say that this is probably my favorite picture on deviantart, and that you are my favorite artist, because never have i gone to a photo so many times as i have this one, or have i searched for a artist so many times as i have for you. You are the reason i joined deviantart, because i wanted to be able to draw as well as you one day (very little progress, through lack of time). I hope that you will have the opportunity to continue drawing because it is one of the reasons i still log on. Keep up the great work.

I can see how you would think that, its kinda messy and what-not, but its the body language and the message that a lot of people see but don't realize that its why they like it. Its sub conscious thinking (which i have some knowledge on) that attracts many people to art. That why those weired abstract paintings are so popular, they appeal to your inner thoughts and you see what you want. Anyway, i like it either way, i first saw it for the first time back what seems like years ago (maybe it was), but iv always remembered that picture.

Great pic, but (even though she's supposed to be plump for this) Kanako is a bit out of character. Have you read the series? Kanako doesn't like sweets. But I guess she could binge on other stuff. XD The ice cream just seems out of place to me.

I haven't actually read the manga, my only exposure to her is from the OAV. That would explain my lack of knowledge of her eating habits.

The manga, like most mangas that are made into animes, is much better, and it has a very nice end. One that actually closes out the series, not leaving it hanging. (much)

Well of course manga is generally better as a rule. I do have some manga, but I don't have the resources or even the desire to own everything in manga form.

I would think some people would find this offensive.. not all overweight people are fat because they over eat or stuff themselfs, sometimes its medical that they just cant loose and really has nothing to do with what they eat..
course you have been drawing these things a long time and I suppose no one has said anything but, I hate sterotypes like this. Im sure you meant nothing mean by it but it still irks me. Im not trying to flame you, though.

Well I thank you for your feedback. Perhaps such a stereotype is offensive to some... however I'm not really intending to imply anything negative with this image.
I think one would have to assume that there is something wrong with being overweight or choosing to be so (not that it is always a choice, as you say), to assume that I intended offense.
I may take your thoughts into consideration in the future, however I will not discontinue that which I wish to draw.

Thats fine then, Im not saying you need to draw anything different or discontinue it because its nice seeing something different then the same old style but in the way you presented the image along with the title and applied meaning it seemed like the image was implying that someone whos overweight constantly eats and thats how they become fat and to ignorant people they dont realise thats not always true. its a sterotype thats not right. It just seemed offensive, too many people think all fat people do is eat and eat, and sometimes its just genetics because I knew someone overweight and she hardly ate and couldnt loose, it was a medical problem..I mistook your intent for something ignorant because whenever I see something like this, it usually always is. And people and usually always cruel. I went on an art site like yours someone you know but I dont remember their sn, anyway she said she just preferred larger proportions. Thats great.
Im not saying its wrong to be overweight, and thats why your picture is wrong, its the food around her, and your title and then the whole 'cause and effect'.
forgive me, I misunderstood your intent. Im glad someone is taking body image thats different then the 'negitive 0' and making it something positive.

Well, as I said, negativity is in the eye of the beholder. Some might view having such a form and such an appetite as an attractive personality trait.
I personally find it offensive that the society we live in casts the context of this conversation in a negative tone by default. It's something I'd like to change in my lifetime if I can, but I'm not betting on it happening.

I love this pick. My eyes seem to always travel to her legs. I like Dwarf's idea, making a story, or atleast a story type sequence of drawings. That sound good? I think it does.
