Ni returns to the pride lands after hearing of the death of Simba and Mufasa, upon returning however he runs into his daughter Nala who brings him back to the pride after he helps them. Sarafina never told Nala who her father was, but in a bind is forced to reveal the truth then. And at that moment when Ni asks Sarafina about Mheetu, she has to painfully reply that he is dead. Ni had been forced to leave the pridelands when Nala was very young and Mheetu was only an infant, he feels guilty and regret but king Scar forces Ni to leave the pride once again and lives the life of a loner never to return.

Anyway I always though of Sarafina and Ni being Nala and Mheetu's parents, so I made Mheetu's coloring a mix between Sarafina and Ni since we have no idea what he really looks like since he was never finalized as an actual character in The Lion King. Mheetu is most likely killed by Scar's hyenas because he was a threat to the throne, and Ni was force to leave the pride as a young lion (like when he says to Nala how all young lions have to leave the pride sometime when they grow up) but didn't take Sarafina and the cubs back to Malka's pride although I'm sure he wish he would have since Scar had Mheetu killed. Upon returning and finding out though, he has many regrets about the choice he made.
