Cody's situation is explained later in the story, but he is a trans man.

Poor YTWC... Someone needs to discipline that damn Cody!

I think they both need to rethink what they've done. While what Cody did was bad, Theo also said very bad things about him.

I never said violence is the answer, be it physical or mental. Both are equally bad.

Seems Plasma is getting dangerously genre savvy....I smell trouble.
N, I'm aware that 75% of humans don't give that much of a damn about history. But I don't think whatever you're gonna do would be positive about that reputation.
Cody's a girl? That's....clever girl.
o.O YTWC, are you ok?

So Cody identifies as a guy, even though that wasn't his birth gender?
*shrugs*
To me, that isn't a big deal. I personally go for "to each person their own" school of thought.

I scrolled through the comments but i didn't see the answer for the secret cameo,
It's Mimi and Jordan from Ky-nim's Nuzlocke in the 4th Panel

I have to ask, is Cody a girl in-game and you named him not noticing what his gender was until later on, or is he a boy in-game and you just threw the whole transgender thing in there for plot purposes?

I already had the idea for Cody's character back in 2011 when I started planning this nuzlocke. This nuzlocke was played in 2013.
I did soft reset for a female Oshawott just to make Cody's character work in a way I wanted.
You guys are seriously underestimating how long and well I've planned this story and it's characters. In fact, I've had this story written and all character development set for a really good while before I even started drawing this comic.

Sorry. I'm not trying to underestimate you in anyway. I actually respect you a lot. You tie with ky-nim and YinDragon in terms of Nuzlocke awesomeness. The plot in this story is so original and you put a lot of thought into your characters. I also love that you've been able to keep Samir alive so far. I've noticed that in a lot of Black and White Nuzlockes, the elemental monkey is often killed off at this point. I've seen it happen so much, I've started calling it "The Curse of Pan."

Ikd about "The Curse of Pan", while I don't follow much nuzlockes anymore I remember seeing a Simisage after Elesa's gym in a BW nuzlocke once.
Samir was one of my best 'mons at this point (3 of my team weak against grass, so fire was good) and it would've been shame to lose him...too early.

And there's the foreshadowing. I just hope that he's just boxed or something. Will the comic still make use of the box? I hope so. I really like that homosexual monkey. I mean, some people seem to have the idea that just because Pokemon are animals, they can't be gay, and yet in many comics they're shown to have a lot of intelligence. I'm not gay myself, but I do feel that it is an honor that, as sentient beings, we have grown to be such an intelligent race that we can ignore instincts and be attracted to members of the same sex or gender. Basically, I'm glad that we can say "Screw you" to Mother Nature. XD

There will be use of the box system at some degree. Not that I'm specifically going to show how it works (I didn't do that in my previous nuzlocke and I don't think it's necessary anyway), but there will be some Pokémon boxed at some point.
As a random note I boxed every Pokémon who died during this run instead of releasing them like in SoulSilver.
For me Pokémon are more like animals, but most of them have pretty much same level of understanding as humans and are capable for complex feelings like us (their sexuality can vary and then there's cases like Cody etc.). They're just a bit more primitive.

I'm glad. By the way, I was wondering about something, and I hoped you could help me with this. If someone's a transgender, how do you define their sexuality? What I mean is if they're born a male, feel like a female, and like boys, then does that mean they're a homosexual or heterosexual?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Yamashita-akaDoragon In reply to Decimatrix5 [2015-06-06 18:27:17 +0000 UTC]
I see it as pretty simple: since I recognize myself as a boy, being attracted to females is heterosexuality for me. Tho I'm asexual/demi, not quite sure which one yet

Judging by how I handled Mark the Electrode, they can identify themselves as any gender as they feel like while they really don't have actually gender. Mark was clearly male (name, used male pronouns etc. plus the brotp with Thor)

Still I always found breeding genderless Pokemon weird. I still don't really understand how that works. Mostly because I never really tried breeding genderless Pokemon in the games.

Oh, I've breed some Beldum, Rotom and Porygon for competitive play. It's harder than breeding Pokémon with a gender since you're stuck with using only single kind of Pokémon + Ditto: no egg moves or such.

I guess so, but what I meant was what that I was wondering what came out of say breeding a Magnezone with a Metagross, and what comes out of breeding a genderless Pokemon with a male or female Pokemon.

Yeah, he is trans because I am a one.

That...that's...
Cody is a trans man, and as a one myself I can tell that what you just said is the very last thing you should say to a trans man. Cody is a boy. And so am I.

Female mammals having whiskers is totally normal. Have you ever seen a cat without whiskers?
Uh...yeah, sure, I'd love to help if you truly want my personal views over any trans stuff you wanna know. One of the biggest reasons of Cody being a trans is that I could spread the awareness of it.

Mmmf... Always tough if you don't identify with the gender everyone sees... I have a few friends who have that problem. Poor Cody.
But... ummm... Unless you have something different or I'm missing something, I don't think the Oshawott family is one that shows gender differences (or at least, not in the game sprite) sooooo...?

Yamashita-akaDoragon In reply to Fluff-Kitten [2015-06-02 06:34:46 +0000 UTC]
You're right, Oshawott and it's evolutions doesn't have any visible gender difference in the games yet you can somehow should be able to tell what gender it is. In this comic Pokémon trainers can pretty easily tell the gender of mammal based Pokémon (as you can in real world), but then there's cases like Rogue where they can't (it's a piece of rock, how you can tell what gender it is?)
