Wow, that's amazing. I really like how the feathers turned out.
But where did you use the ink? To me it looks like done entirely with water colours. Except for the eye, maybe. That is very dark black and looks like ink.

Thanks! Everything is black ink washes. I added some colour watercolour on top when I had most of the bird already made in ink. When you use ink diluted it looks similar to watercolor, but unlike watercolor it will stay put on the paper once it is dry. (Watercolor may fade a bit)

How you defined the feathers and made the body textury is brilliantly done~

Very nice use the white background and texture. The soft brown works very nicely with the white, and combined with light but distinct shades of yellow and grey, the overall image has a look of peacefulness, nature and purity. The texture of the feathers and how they seem to flow across the bird fluently paired with the very much watercolour-ly feel of the background only adds to this effect of harmony.
Though, I do feel as if the background could have been softer with its transition between the white and brown. Nevertheless, awesome work!

Thanks for your comment. Yes, perhaps it could have been a bit softer there...

Gorgeous! Reminds me of that old song "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree / Merry merry king of the bush is he..."
