Is she from something? she is very pretty. I really like how homely she is. I wish more girls would aim for a natural beauty.

Good day ^^, I'm here on behalf of  #projectcomment.

First and foremost, good job on the coloring ^^ especially the highlight  I have light fetishes . Good job on the wrinkles too, you don't go too much details into it which is a good thing, most people tended to overdo the details on the folds which ended up being of balance..especially in the anime/manga styles. The pose is subtle and cute, but it's still too stiff.

Anyway, before going into the details, it seems that the previous person have made in excellent points in critiquing your drawing, so I would like to extend it a bit more  .

Firstly, you seems to be struggling when drawing male, I've read Horimiya and I know how feminine Miyamura is in appearance, but the author's style in someway make the differences between male and female quite obvious for us to easy identify. Males are taller, narrow chin, small and rigid eyes, rigid nose and in contrast females are shorter, more rounded, bigger eyes and such. So you can use those a reference when drawing difference genders. In your drawing, his eye is to big and is nose is a bit small. Also his mouth is too feminine, male mouth tend to be a bit rough and wide. His shoulder is abit small and rounded.

The second thing that I would like to address is his pose, his pose is abit girly too, this can be improve by making him more confident (higher and wider shoulder, making the V shape of his pose a bit more define). Also his pose lack "life" because he is too stiff and his arm looks uncomfortable. My advice when drawing poses is to avoid straight line when drawing, always use curve lines (trust me it will the your pose more interesting). You've done a great job on his hand but it's too big and his fingers are too rough (hands are hard to drawing, I myself struggling too   but practice makes perfect ! )

Now for your shading, you've done a great job making the basic shape clear, it lacks darker values. Use darker value will make the shapes more standout. Also the color you've used for the shading is quite dull, since you only use very limited color. Don't worry every one makes this mistake even myself once . don't be afraid to go crazy with color, using a variety of colors color the shading will make it stand out and more interesting. Just remember Cool colors are perfect for shadows and defining shapes, warmer colors are good for making something stands out (with cooler colors in contrast) and lights.

That's all I have to say for this drawings, this is a general critique for arts too So I hope this will help you in your future arts .

I'll give you some personally advice , you have a good and strong base to improve on your arts the road ahead is long hard, but keep fighting, keep working hard the future is bright ^^ Also, to really improve your art, I Highly recommend you to study the fundamental of arts (if you're really serious on improving your arts, which I think you do) and lastly go crazy with your arts, draws everything like, go crazy with the coloring, experimenting other wise you will stagnate.
Anyway, this Happy Memories  is my favorite ^^

I hope this helps and good luck on your art journey ^^
Have a great day !

AHhhh QvQ Thanks so much for your amazingly detailed feedback! I'm so glad you read Horimiya too so you know his characteristics are ^^'
Yup I struggle quite a bit with drawing males as opposed to females (might be why all my male OCs have longer hair and more lithe bodies ^^') Thank you for pointing out which characteristics males more prominently have! And your note about the pose being too girly/stiff is true~ Ahhh I appreciate that you told me exactly how to improve it >U< Shading is hard for me, especially the clothes! I just can't seem to get them right (which makes me happy that you think my folds are alright; I'm not too confident about those either). The tip about warm and cool colors is real helpful though! I'll keep that in mind~!!

Since I have been serious about improving my arts, I have been trying to study anatomy and coloring a bit more!~ Hopefully I'll reach a point where I'm happy with my art someday! And I'm glad you enjoyed my piece of Rin ;v; Thanks a whole bunch again!! You're amazing!

Good Evening, I am here from: , and I'm here to offer a critique if I can.
First off, this is a very nice piece, your lineart is quite clear, and I love the attention to detail you put into the piece; especially the wrinkles in his sweater. I also really like the highlights you put in his hair. The eyes are a really pretty color, but I feel they lack pupils. I don't know if you were going for the specific style of the Manga, but eyes just don't look natural without the pupils, you know?
The hands are quite nice, but I feel the fingers are a little stiff, at least his pinky is. Hands are hard to get just right, so I'm not going to nag you on them, but practicing them will help.
I like your shading, it is simple, but well done, the only thing I could say about that is to blend it in a bit more. For example, the shading spots in his sweater look a bit messy to me; they could definitely use a little blending.
Other than those things, I do enjoy this piece, and I think you did a great job! Good luck on your artistic journey, and I hope to see you soon!

Hello!~ I really appreciate the feedback thank you!
The pupil thing is just my style I'm afraid   But I'll be sure to make the pupils bigger in the future!!~   And thanks for the tip about the pinky! I always need to practice hands   I agree it looks a tad bit stiff in this piece ^^' The blending is also a thing I definitely will keep in mind!!~   Thanks so much for your amazing feedback again!~

Loving the folds in the sweater and hair work/shine.   Nice stuff!

Good hand, but (readies nit picking tweezers) knuckles and fist finger joints are more parallel.  You're looking at the pointy end of a triangle here (pinky).  This has his forefinger bone twice as long as the ringfinger bone.  (puts away tweezer)

Not that I'm any better at it, but it got my attention.  Happy drawing!

Ahh!! Thanks so much for your nice feedback >U< Believe it or not, I struggle the most with shading hair and doing clothes folds and all, so I'm glad they look alright in this photo!!~ And I loved the way you phrased "nit picking tweezers" haha. Yesss the fingers were bothering me but thanks for letting me know why~! Thanks a lot again!! (\(^v^)/)
