on open ended sentences we hangwaiting on a lifetime
aged and aging
shades of gray
and grass grown over hand-drawn maps
'til something's missing
and it's time like sideshow mirrors
half reflection
half interpretation
taken lightly
so no one knows it's gone
from bedsides and empty tables
from postcards and broken records
from phones gone silent
everywhere
and all around us
new beginnings
it's a private sorrow shared
and on display
shamed by years
we paint our fictions
'til they're all that we remain
it's a lot like life's love lost
