Description

As the aspiring young adventurer Florian set off on their Pokémon journey across the Paldea region, the academy student would encounter many trainers and battle them. The people and Pokémon they’d meet would vary greatly in shape, size, and skill but a certain duo easily stood out among the rest. An ordinary looking man who worked as a courier and a very VERY tall woman who liked to hike…

While wandering around in the Southern Province of Paldea, Florian would meet this strange pair of trainers for the first time and challenge them to a Pokémon battle.

*Presses A button to talk in silent protagonist.*

Courier: “Hey there. You wouldn’t happen to know where this address is would you? I need to deliver a package but this map is kinda confusing.”

Hiker: “I’m pretty sure it’s up this way. I’ve hiked around here once before but having another set of eyes to look at something never hurt. Think you can help us out?”

*You are challenged by Courier Lane and Hiker Montana.*

-DOUBLE BATTLE START-

Courier’s team: Nacli

Hiker’s team: Happiny

-BATTLE END, TRAINER WINS-

Courier: “Well at least you’re better at battling than I am with this darn map.”

Hiker: “Ah, we were close. To the address I mean... I think...”

*Presses A again to talk.*

Courier: “That battle really cleared up my head. I’m certain I’ll be able to find the way now. This lady even said she’d tag along to make sure I get there. That sure is nice of her.”

Hiker: “Hiking around a new area can be tough sometimes so it’s best to travel with someone when you’re inexperienced. I think I’ll make sure this guy actually manages to deliver that package. What? Why am I so tall? Well I’m actually from Galar. I grew up eating Max Mushrooms pretty often and I guess it all just went right into my height.~”

*Proceeds to leave and explore the rest of the area.*

With the victorious trainer now gone the sky suddenly grew heavy with clouds and a pouring rain fell upon the hiker and the courier, forcing them to seek shelter. As they hurried along the road the pair stumbled across the opening to a cave that would offer them protection from the storm. Now nice and dry inside of the tunnel, the new acquaintances proceeded to strike up a conversation with one another to pass the time while they all waited for the weather to clear up.

“Well it looks like if we want to stay dry, we might be in here for awhile.” The extremely tall woman first broke the silence while observing the rain from the edge of the cave. “How’s your Pokémon doing?”

“Huh? Oh. Uhhh… Bricks? He’s doing good. I just finished healing him up and drying him off. You know how Rock Types hate getting wet…” The courier replied with a bit of surprise from a few steps farther back in the cave. “How about you?”

Kneeling down, the large lady gently started to pet her own Pokémon that was happily watching the rain. “Piny’s doing just fine. I gave her some berries and she’s back to being perky like always, right girl?”

The small pink creature gave a delighted squeaking noise.

“Thank you for asking Mr. Uh….” The amazon rose back to her feet to face her fellow cave dweller but realized something and started scratching the back of her head in embarrassment. “Hey… So this might be awkward but I don’t think I remember your name…”

The courier brought his hand up to his face with a slap of a facepalm. “Arugh! That’s right. That kid showed up to challenge us so fast we barley even got to introduce ourselves. My name’s Lane. I appreciate your help with the map earlier Miss?....” The gentleman stepped forward and stuck out his arm to offer a handshake to the fit female.

Accepting Lane’s gesture, the taller than average woman knelt down a bit to account for her height and gave a pleased grin as she answered. “Montana. But you can just call me Tana.”

With a honest smile of his own, Lane continued to shake the friendly mini-giantess’s hand. “Well then it’s a pleasure to meet you Tana.”

Giggling, Montana nodded her head. “Mmm-Hmmm.~ Likewise… Oh hey look! The rain is letting up! Come on Lane, let’s go drop off package of yours.” The perky gal noted as the clouds started to clear and she turned to gaze out once again at the landscape.

Watching the sun beams pierce through the air, Lane found himself struck for a moment by the sight of 9ft tall beauty’s mesmerizing looks backdropped by the shining sky above. “Wow, Montana really something else huh? I don’t think I’ll ever meet another girl like her.” The courier thought to himself as he readied to follow his new hiking companion a little adventure.

I think I’ve said it before but I’m not fond of the Scarlet and Violet MC designs, both (default) name and appearance wise. So instead of focusing on them for my first ever Pokémon size story/scenario, I figured it would be more interesting to focus on some generic NPCs instead. Y'all already know I REALLY liked the hiker lady design and I still haven’t played Violet yet so yeah… Has either version stopped breaking or being a buggy mess? Lol.

Anyways, this idea also opened up a unique opportunity narrative-wise. Instead of having to worry about the MC and what’s going on in the actual in-game plot, I can just do something fun on the side with some made up characters. I also tried to write the encounter with the MC to be a bit more game like to further that NPC-ness and I think I did a decent job with it. So yeah, that about sums it up. Thank you to my ol’ pal Svenyatta for doing this commission for me and to the folks that helped with suggestions for character names for these two. I hope y’all will enjoy seeing these two pop up together every so often.
