Oh let's face it he doesn't need an excuse to randomly show up naked, practically EVERY conversation I ever had with him he tried to start a Romance with me.

With other people you have to work at the romance, with Zevran you gotta beat him away with a stick to keep him off you! In the event that your actually trying to romance him it's like fishing with Napalm!

Well, if you're really interested, I see no problem either.
My character is, a male Dalish rogue(ranger/assassin) named Iacar.
He's mostly good but likes the fight, and I made him pretty shy when it comes to romance and such.

I created only one Tabris and played him only few hours. He is rogue, too. I like him. Maybe after finishing Skyrim, Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect I'll play DAO again.

I only use elves, so I know best all the Surana/Tabris/Mahariel story lines and it's fun. Mahariel is a Dalish that was infected by the taint. Surana and Amell has the same story line and since you said you played a Tabris... well, you know what happened there.

My sister played as Mahariel so I know that storyline. I created also both dwarfs only to see their story but never played more that to Ostagar.

My mahariel ended up with Zevran... I tried to make my Surana queen but it failed.

My Coussie romanced Alistair (what a surprise!), my Tabris romanced Zevran, My Surana romanced Cullen (YAY for mods!) and my only male - Amell - first romanced Morrigan but finally ended up with Leliana. As far as I can tell only Cousland can become the queen/king.

I'm planing to have my female Tabris to be in romance with Leliana.
And a male Surana for a change. Before Iacar all my characters were female. maybe I'll make a cousland too, even if the thought of the elves hating me is uncomfortable.

Yes - that old weirdo in Bresilian forest has the helmet (You can exchange it for something) and if You want boots and play on PC you need a small mod, cause they are not available because of the bug. I found it on Nexus I guess. Check wiki - it's all written there.

If You play on PC there are no boots in the game - you have to add them using small mod. If You don't play on PC then check DA wiki - I don't know where they are in the game originally.

...My female Surana... She looked like Fenris! I mean, white hair, dark skin, green eyes, she has tatoos too, the onse who goes on the eyes like Mithal's mark... The irony is that she's a mage and Fenris hates them.
