Anyway, I'm sure you guys have heard the bad news. Honestly, as sad as it is, I'm not surprised that this has happened. In fact, I think the surprising thing about this is that it didn't happen sooner. Had quite a few technical issues with this one. Long story short, I may have to make a new file for creating these comics in. It's nothing too serious, but it's just becoming a pain how frequently these issues are occurring.

In light of Hasbro making what I consider a boneheaded move (Cease and Desist rather than possibly offering licensing of some sort), I could see Button behaving this way. He'll probably go drown his sorrows in apple juice later.

I'm mad that Hasbro C&D everyone because *they make stuff better than them*, butΒ what makes me frustrated is Hasbro didn't send the C&D sooner. It takes over a year to send Jan a C&D. They could have send him a C&D after the first Button's pilot episode if they say *they want to protect their IP*. Imagine all that hard work gone into wasted.

I don't assume they do it for that reason. It seems cold hearted, but they are a big company and they have the right to protect their creations just like anyone else. I just hope JanΒ Animations can work something out.
I just want to understand the real reason for shooting down fan works this way, especially the really good stuff.

Some people has started hating Hasbro when they censored derpy hooves. Other has started when them when they gave a rush job on alicorn twilight. Others have started hating them when they made a spinoff movie that had questionableΒ quality AND granted it a sequel that ALSO has questionable quality. Others have started when they took down FiW, the mentally advanced series, and/or gave a C&D order on Fighting is Magic. Others have started when they greenlighted three bayformer sequels. Others have started for a combination of the above mentioned reasons.
This is just one instance that sent them over the edge if it didn't already.

While I was hyped out the ass for Fighting is Magic, I can understand Hasbro axing it off. They didn't want their intellectual property depicted in that kind of light and I respect them for that.
What I don't respect is this C&D, or as I am labeling it from now on, the Mash Murders. Jan had no ill will towards the company. Hell, he co-operated with them for the damn Bronies Documentary animations. But no, that didn't sit well.

If Hasbro wants to cease and desist someone it finds out his address (I hope you do realize that this is easy, it's just a matter of a short phone call and some minutes nowadays to find out where someone lives.), hands the whole things over to it's lawyers and they send a written letter then.
Hasbro doesn't need his e-mail adress. And any other way to tell him that he should take down his work has no legal weight, there is always a official lawyer letter needed for that.
