Enrichment Center file #21: GLaDOS

GLaDOS (Genetic Lifeform and Disk Operating System) is the Aperture Science primary AI, in charge of overseeing all tests and experiments performed in the Aperture Science Research and Enrichment Center. Rather than being the massive supercomputer "she" appears to be, she is actually made up of a number of Aperture Science Artificial Intelligence Globular Modules, or simply Components for short. All were installed to make her more human, though a few were installed to insure she would not kill the humans that created her. The modules displayed her are, as identified:

Morality: Installed at a period in time when GLaDOS proved to have an unstable AI and began flooding the Enrichment Center with neurotoxin so that she would stop flooding the Enrichment Center with neurotoxin.

Curiosity: Designed to ensure that GLaDOS would have a healthy curiosity and continue experimentation

Memory: Essentially a spherical flash drive, serving as extra storage space, in this case holding recipies for cake.

Rage: Created to make sure that she would keep the facility safe.

Creativity: Built so that GLaDOS wouldn't simply try the same thing over and over, dooming people due to a lack of creatve thinking. Unfortunately, she seemed to work around this by designing creative "Testing Chambers", almost seemingly dedicated to ensuring that none could complete the tasks.

Love: Installed for roughly the same reason as Morality.

Logic: Created so that she would not display a complete lack of reasoning.

Reincarnation: Devised so that even if GLaDOS should undergo a catastrophic failure, she wouold simply move to a new body.

Rationality: Designed so that GLaDOS would not be totally irrational. Unfortunately, this module, by its very nature, is unstable and unreliable, and there has been one recorded failure already.

Strategy: Built to ensure that GLaDOS would think plans through completely.
