"Princess... Princess... PRINCESS!"
I open my eyes.
"What's wrong?" I ask.
"You dozed off again." Says Zeal. He's one my closest friends and the leader of the Aerospace and Technology division of the Resistance.
"So what? I was tired... We had a long night..." I retort.
"You mean you had a long night Princess"
"Whatever and enough with the 'Princess' business... Its bad enough that the guards, council, and my cousin say it"
"Fine, your Highness" Zeal says.
"Are you trying to irk me?" I say irritatingly.
"Of course not" He smirks with a chuckle, but then the smile dissipates. "Its just protocol. After all, when you're present here, you need to be addressed as such."
"Whatever..."
I start to walk towards the kingdom. Away from my meadow retreat. In all honesty, I never wanted to be the next heir. My cousin, Katsu Araina, was the next monarch. However, when his father caused turmoil for my father, Autorious, his allegiance was questioned. Katsu did pass the council and no charges of corruption were pitted against him. But, he is afraid that the taste of power will cause him to act like his father. Well, he might as well be happy. He'll soon be married and have his hands full with family...

I reach the large glacial palace which I call my home.
"Aria!"
A magenta cat comes running down the stairs.
"Hey sis! How was your date with Zeal?"
I become flustered and retort, "We aren't dating nor do we intend to. You know how Arenainian law is. No dating unless for marriage!"
Aria cocks her head slightly to the side, "But I thought you two were planning to get married"
"Aria! This is not the time or place to be talking about anything conjugal or something pertaining to that matter!"
Aria coolly says, "But sis, You're seventeen... You need to settle down sometime. You'll be of marrying age in a matter of months..."
"Aria... We have a war on our hands... A war that we have been fighting for nearly a decade... I cannot settle down... I'm the leader of this proud nation and I will not let what father and mother put into this kingdom go to vain..." I reply.
"Sis..."

A guard walks in.
"Your Highness... the attack was not successful. Many of our men and women from the Imperial Armada have been injured..."
"What do you mean?! That is our best troop!" I exclaim.
"Your Highness, should we retreat?" He asks
"I..."
Zeal and Katsu walk in.
"Princess what are we going to do?" Zeal inquires.
"I do not know..." I reply.
"Cousin... we cannot stand here and wait. We have no time." Katsu says.
"Are you suggesting that we enlist the help of neighboring kingdoms? This is our problem Katsu! We cannot enlist the help of the Sol Kingdom and Mobotropolis!"
"I know it is a risk. But's its a risk we must take." Katsu continues.
"Your Highness, we are here to serve you and this kingdom, we are prepared to die." The guard responds
"Very well then... Katsu seek help from the Sol Kingdom, I will personally go to Mobotropolis and talk to my comrades there. The rest of you prepare for the final battle..." I announce.
Katsu nods and walks away.
"Princess, you can't possibly be going through with this plan?!" Zeal says with ambiguity.
I say nothing and walk past him.
"NAEEMA! YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS?!" He yells as he grabs my arm.
"Zeal! It doesn't matter! We have lives at risks!" I yell.
"But those soldiers have families! You're sending them on a suicide mission!" He continues.
"I understand the circumstances... But my allegiance lies with my kingdom, not with my heart..." I say as I walk away.
Aria walks up beside Zeal.
"What are we going to do?..."
"I don't know Aria... But your sister is making a mistake..." He says.
