Alternate History Scenario where Francis II of France survives and marries Queen Mary of Scotland.

UNION OF FRANCE AND SCOTLAND

The Union of France and Scotland was attributed to the marriage of Queen Mary of the Scots, to King Francis II of the France. Their heir King Henri III de Valois inherited the throne of France at age 24 in 1586, and subsequently the throne of Scotland when his mother died in 1602. Under Henri's leadership the Acte d'Union was enacted leading to the union of the two crowns into the United Kingdom of France and Scotland. Under Henri's rule the Viscounty of Bearn, and County of Foix were reconquered. He was known to yeild lands to nobles in Scotland and France in order to attempt to contain the protestant revolutionaries that had plagued his nation for two generations. At the end of his reign the Auld Union would become the de facto name for the United Kingdom; coined by Scottish poet Malcolm of Fyfe. France would fight two major wars with the Kingdom of England during Henri's reign over the sovreignty of Scotland, and the noble revolt of Scotland which was supported by the English crown. The Edicts of Evreux were passed by Henri who hoped to bring peace to his religious civil war between Protestants and Catholics. Although the Edits had success at first, ultimately they lead to the evication of protestants from France and Scotland by Royal Decree in 1623.
