Description For round 2 we had to dress our character in formal attire. Can you think of a more formal occasion than your coronation? I can't.

Isabella became queen of Castile in december 1474 (aged 23). Her brother, Henry IV, the Impotent, had just died and Isabella was the only legitimate heiress, since "his" daughter (just run a search for Juana, la Beltraneja) was declared an illegitimate child and denied any rights to the throne.

People should research the Trastamaras, the Tudors did nothing compared to the kind of rumors and conspiracies that took place in Spain under their rule.

Anyway, she's dressed in white, the traditional colour for mourning and she's also posing with the Castilian banner, though she's blocking the castle.

The ceremony took place in Segovia. This kind of acts usually took place inside official buildings, mainly cathedrals or any other religious place. Isabella walked all the way to the cathedral and recited her vows in the public square in front of the building. She then took the Castilian banner and, embracing it, made her way in. Needless to say she became a superstar right after that.

Hope I manage to do that well in the competition.

I can't get over the beautiful use of value and those shadows. So well done, and I love the history!

Thank you so much! I've always felt like I got too carried away with the shadows for such a bright dress, but at the same time, I don't think this doll would have got as much attention as it did if it weren't for that fact. I'm not too happy with it anymore, but it feels great seeing it getting some love from time to time. From such a talented artist too

You should! Dolling is still fun to do as a side thing. And seeing how you also draw and paint, it would be fun seeing how you apply all that knowledge to dolling. I think some dollers are now going for more experimentation, otherwise it gets old very quickly. It's not the norm, but that also means that your dolls can stand out

I was roaming through your gallery and found this, had to comment that it's always been one of my most favorite dolls of yours and still is. It's just every bit delicious now as it was when you first made it. Your shading is impeccable.

I admit that this is my least favourite out of all my entries to TTA. My favourite was round 3. I got that image of Isabel praying in a dark room only lit by a couple of candles and no matter what that image stuck, so I had to doll it. It came out just as I wanted it, dolling that round was a bliss. Same for round 1 and my silly mistake involving the site's background colour

This, I liked the idea at first but then found it too simple and tried sketching a new doll, but was too lazy to do that in a new canvas, so I sketched on a layer over this. When the canvas proved to be too small, I doubled the size and kept working, saving on top of what I already had. When that other idea didn't work and I was running out of time, I went back to this doll and everything had been ruined by the resizing, so I had to redo the whole thing on top of what I had. Fun times I like it, but at the same time I wish I had done it differently. That should be easy to fix, though

This is gorgeous. It's also one of my favorite time periods in history, so it's really nice to see it done by someone with your talent.

I wasn't really fond of this particular period, probably because I still pictured it as part of the Middle Ages (the first stages) and thus it had this filthy and depressing aura. But after some research I just found it truly fascinating. Not to mention that I always had a soft spot for this woman, so I had to give it all I've got. Thank you so much for the comment and the watch!
