August 16-29, 2015 digital art paintingLikely, I'll always be someone who puts more effort into my own traditional art than the digital world, but I've wanted to try to get some decent digital art chops down, too. This is one of my first experiments trying to get some sense of style and painting down. It's not the best art I have ever done, but I'm happy with what I have learned and I realize it's a step in the right direction. I'm posting it here as a happy landmark for my (hopeful) progress in the world of digital art. And since I love HTTYD, I figured I might as well make my "test flight" art a picture of flight.

I kind of adore this. This is like the physical manifestation of what I love so much about their relationship. The intensity, the oneness. I love the curve of the tail, how low Hiccup is crouched, his wild hair and his focused, almost angry eyebrows.Β I love the clouds - it could be the eye of a storm. It could be a redo of their fight against the Red Death. You've officially given be shivers.

I love the perspective and the lighting! Gotta try this out, never used my brush...
The tail is a bit weird though, it becomes too thin too fast. Toothie has no nostrils, his left eye has a strange position and the wings are impossible. I drew bats to practice the wings.

This drawing was all just a test and not for detail or accuracy anyway - sorry if I didn't make that clear in my artist's description, so I wasn't looking too much for feedback in that realm.
