Nova and Diva had both arrived safely at the venue for the last event of the futurity competition. They had been working towards this moment for a few years by now, and Nova suddenly thought back to when the mare was still a foal, Diva had grown so much, from a little foal to the powerful quirky mare she had now become. And she had become so much whiter in just those few years, to the point she was almost unrecognisable.
Nova was brought back to reality when the mare gave her a hard shove, landing the girl in the pile of straw behind her. When she looked up Diva was giving her a sassy look, almost laughing at the fact Nova actually fell. She quickly got up and finished tacking up the mare before quickly grabbing a jacket while on her way out to the arena and warming up her horse.
The two were waiting for the timer to start. Diva was starting to act up, too impatient to wait even a second longer. And when the bell finally rang the mare practically jumped forward at the slightest touch of Nova’s leg, leaving behind a cloud of dust. The first jump came into sight when Diva’s ears perked up and she widened her pace slightly, leaping over the small log with ease. Nova gave the mare a small pat on her neck when she suddenly slowed down and reared up, hitting Nova square in the face in the process. After regaining her balance she quickly noticed a small lizard was running across the track. She calmed the mare down with a few words and made the mare speed up again. It was only a minute later she noticed she was left with a nosebleed, she quickly wiped her nose with her sleeve and hoped it wouldn’t bother her enough to have to stop.
The rest of the course went on without a hitch and Nova gave the mare a big hug before she got off.
