Description Haha, today's my one-year anniversary on dA!
I decided yesterday morning that it was about time I had an ID, so I did a sort of speedpaint of the face of my alter-ego (or "fursona") Vroenfael And no, he's NOT A WOLF He's a Krovendrakk (plural = Krovendraekk), an alien species of my own creation (check out the reference if you're interested ) which are not canines as they aren't even related to mammals
And yes, I may be a girl, but my fursona is a male : a female fursona just didn't fit, but Vroenfael did - I just couldn't think of him as a female for some reason XD

I tried out a different colouring style for this instead of my usual realism - partly because I wanted to experiment, but mainly because I just didn't have the time to draw every single hair It didn't turn out too badly - I still prefer my usual, more detailed colouring stlye, but the softer feel of this one didn't turn out as bad as I feared it would. As for the misty bg, it was a bit of a last-minute addition as the ID seemed too empty without it, and it made Vroen stand out a bit more ^^
That's about all I have to say for this one

Done aged 16 on one layer in GIMP in...quite a short time

love, love, love it! reminds me of my youth watching stuff like, The Never Ending Story. The calm determination of the eyes, the knowing smile at the end of the snout - wonderful subtle emotion.

And I really appreciate the comment about emotions - it's so hard to do emotions on non-human faces without making them exaggerated or cartoonish <3

He is so, so beautiful - His face is so defined, fur so thick and flowing... The detail of those stunning eyes, just, wow - I'm mesmerised. The shine on his nose and the shading into his mouth, I can just see him wetting his lips and blinking and breathing, fur gently waving in a breeze. Diamond teeth - it's almost like they're secretly standing out, hmm that's hard to explain but all you need know is that I love him, from the tip of the ears all the way through, he is spectacular, and you better be proud. I hate so much how always when I feel I could step into a picture, I wish I could just stand next to an amazing beast like this but never can! To run my fingers down that long muzzle, and into that fur... If he didn't try to eat me, of course.
P.S. And I love how you've managed to fade him into the background!

Glad you like his eyes, and if that's what you think, then I'm glad his teeth turned out that was as that was how I intended them to look I really am so glad that you like my character, and you'll be seeing a lot more of him and his species in my future pieces
And that does annoy me too when I see beautiful fantasy creatures and want to touch them - sadly, it's not possible
And lol, he wouldn't eat you - humans are off the menu Plus he's a pacifist
And thanks - it was quite simple to do - I just didn't put as much detail into that area and used lighter colours

Vroenfael looks gorgeous here Zephyr So majestic and those eyes XD

I had to tilt my laptop a bit to see the details more but hes come out magnifeciantly (cant spell that lol >.<) I love his piercings and his guard plates look really detailed and shiny XD

And yay for one year XD Mine will be soon, its gone so quick >.< I hoped for more art up than i have got ¬¬

Aww, that means so much to me Nova!
I'm so happy his eyes turned out as well as you think they did - the Koren clan (European race that Vroenfael's part of) are supposed to be famous for their intense gaze, and it's practically one of Vroen's trademarks And I'm so glad you like the fur too - not as detailed as I usually do it, but I was going for a different style here
As for the tutorial, my typical style isn't hard to explain - draw. every. single. freaking. hair. In this style though, I just roughly suggested fur clumps with a small brush and used a larger, softer brush at a lower opacity to shade a little Hope that helps
