this is a remix from the next in the Vinyl Remix series. VR is where I take old 12" vinyl albumn covers, and start doing my own take. sometimes the changes are subtlely diverting from the original, sometimes its a fairly brazen overhaul...this is somewhat in the middle so far, of Ryuichi Sakamotos Neo Geo album, a crazy confection of sound sthat included guests like Bill Laswell, Tony Williams (yes, THE Tony Williams) and Iggy Pop.this compliments nicely the loose pen and ink sketch from last week of Ryuichi...
frosted acetate, fiber resin texturizer, acrylic paint, acrylic ink, colored pencil + digital

I've been meaning to but need to dig up the source file from my stack of archive CD-Rs (I have literally hundreds) and have been in the process of cataloging the stuff, but its going to happen

the combining of painting and digital work is amazing.. i'm usually not a fan of digital art, but its done in a subtle way

your color choices are fantastic. they work together really nicely and the blues are very striking. I particularly like the expression as well; I feel that he's pensive and thoughtful, and his emotions are in turmoil. Overall, the style is really fresh and unique and this piece is simply excellent.

i absolutley adore the streaks of flurescent aqua in his eyebrows its inspired, the only thing im not particularily keen on about this picture would have to be the redish blocks. to me they detract from the picture more than they bring to it. but overall this is definatly magnificent on a whole new level.

awesome take. colors are too good. his eyes and the brush strokes above the left brow looks like bird feathers, giving him a sort of animalistic look. very wild.

i can fully imagine some typical 60s animation. clouds rolling in his hair. the fibres of his eyebrows moving like the lines in the middle of the road while you do 90. the rays radiating and everything that is beautiful and living can be seen living in him.
