Description How to remove full row select in Windows 7 Explorer, when folders selected as details.
[included a quiq modified microsoft visual style as an example for using]

this asked from Windows Client TechCenter Microsoft's Forums [link]

INSTRUCTIONS
---------

for the 32bit version of win7
----------------
Make a restore point.

Go to C:\Windows\System32 then find the file .dll that you want to replace, the: ExplorerFrame.dll

then one left clik for select it, and then do that:

1. Right-click the file original and select Properties.

2. Click on the Security tab.

3. Click Advanced in the lower right.

4. In the Advanced Security Settings window that pops up, click on the Owner tab.

5. Click Edit.

6. Click Other users or groups.

7. Click Advanced in the lower left corner.

7. Click Find Now.

8. Scroll through the results and double-click on your current user account.

9. Click OK to all of the remaining windows except the first Properties window.

10. Select your user account from the list up top and click Edit.

11. Select your user account from the list up top again and then in the pane below, check Full control under Allow, or as much

control as you need.

12. You will get a security warning, click Yes.

Copy this file [ ExplorerFrame.dll to a safe place[folder] for using it as a back up [for example make a new folder to c and name it

''original dll'', so your original dll file could be saved on C:\original dll\ExplorerFrame.dll ].

Then copy again this file to your desktop and open it with ResHacker.

Go to View, Find Text and writte :

(
and then add parameter :

background="themeable(gtc(ItemsView, 0, 0, 3802), window)"

so all the line it writtes:

press Compile script at the top.

Then again go to View, Find Text and writte : "22rp"

replace it with a different one value , lets say : "20rp"

press Compile script at the top again and save it.
[this last makes the vertical distances of details shorter]

then go again to C:\Windows\System32 then find again the file ExplorerFrame.dll that you want to replace, ExplorerFrame.dll and

rename it to ExplorerFrame.dll .bak .

Then copy the new ExplorerFrame.dll , from your desktop to C:\Windows\System32 .

after finish all the changes, Restart your Pc.

Now if you like your border not looking 'open' to the right side of the text , the most simple solution is to modify / paint

images 629, 630, 631, 632 replaced with semitransparent [or solid] colours style images with no borders. Also do the same

to images 645, 646 or make no image to them [make the image on each of them transparent].

You can download a microsoft aero visual style that very quiq i have modified, but its better make yours, this is just for a quiq demonstration of the modification.

-------------------
for the 64bit version of win7 do the same , that means copy/paste the dll of your system C:\Windows\System32 [dont forget o back up to a safe folder your original ones], but it is possible that also you must do the modification for also for the ExplorerFrame.dll that exist to C:\windows\SysWOW64\ , take ownership .
[its good first ask other people have 64bit win 7 the way that it works, as i have not x 64 version of windows 7 so at this time i can not help you more]
----------------

(DO THIS AT YOU OWN RISK)

------------
There is also another method [inserting different code parameters] more accurate, as the modification works specific only for the details area, but its too complicated, and also microsofts clasic theme sinse now, does not work with that, so its not reffered. [link]
