And back again with another of the big ones. And hello there, new site-clashy upload interface..

The Kherlen-class was originally to be a light cruiser focused around traditional gunnery, but the design was repurposed into the role of a support ship,* rearming other ships and performing minor repairs that would otherwise require warships to return to friendly docks and bases. With their original planned armament removed, most of the ship's interior is taken up by storage facilities, some workshops, and a small hangar added aft to support a handful of fighters or shuttles as needed.

A typical task force will have one or more Kherlens accompanying it, mainly to keep the fleet from running out of expendable weapons too quickly. If one of the support ships can remain unnoticed, it can also serve as a (very) limited mobile base to extend the range of other vessels. Generally speaking, though, these are ships whose lives are best spent behind the lines or under close escort.

A frigate and a pair of Hawks provide some scale.

* - This is true both in-character and out of it - this was originally supposed to be a smaller blow-things-up ship but I also figured some support ships should show up eventually. I may do a modified version of this mesh later that would reflect its original role...
