Been having really bad migraines lately but I did draw a bit whenever I could, on my latest fantasy realistic girl. It took me several days to complete. It's a different version of a regular photo I took of my friend last year. I think it has a kind of glow about it, a mix of dark and light, which I am always fond of. Hair took me forever, same with the face shading and expression. Actually most of it took a long time but it was needed
I just noticed how much black and white work I have done lately.
It's done with charcoal; my all time favourite medium.

what paper do you use when working in charcoal?? Oh and what about fixing the picture so it doesnt smudge?! Smudging is a constant battle for me.... even with basic pencil!

Do you use charcoal sticks or what? I always find it difficult to draw with those cause I can never make small details because the top is never sharp enough. What kind of charcoal is it that you use, anyway? The one they sell here is so awful and it's kinda brown.
Anyway, this drawing is lovely, I've always liked how you draw blond hair and shadings are blended well so it looks so smooth.

For this one I used my charcoal pencil. I use both types but mostly my pencils for a drawing like this. I use Faber Castell, we have many different ones here all black. I could buy you one and send if you wish?

I usually always use very smooth paper (Winsor&Newton) for my charcoal work, works the best for me
