As for the trip, I dunno... travel agency is looking into it. On one hand the whole country is in bad trouble because of the earthquake, tsunami and consequent power and nuclear problems. On the other hand, tourism may help to get their day-to-day economy back to normal.
I guess it depends on when the disaster "ends" (well the physical part of it anyway) and how bad the damage turns out to be...
