Beautiful. Your landscapes are truly beautiful in all sense of the word, and the work is as good as any professional artist would have done.

Whoa... that's incredible. The way the waterfall splits like that looks familiar; did you have a specific sort of waterfall in mind when you painted that?

Amazing. You've got real talent, patience and skill with colors and textures. I'm so glad I did what you said on your Snape Canon vrs Fanon piece and went to see what else you had. This is so amazing. Did you have a basis for this or did it all come from your head? You may have answered the question already in Finish, but I don't read Finish, so...

Hi, and thanks so much for the huge load of comments and favs! ^^ Means a lot to me. ^^

Didn't have an exact basis, it was partially inspired by something I saw on one of my hiking trips, but that didn't involve waterfalls, mainly just sheer stone cliffs. Also at the very first stages, this appeared somewhat different, added later foliage and trees to balance the composition.

Well...I think my patience'd also crack, if it weren't for audio books. I just re-listened to most of The Deathly Hallows, while editing the massive TS/BloSC image. Really makes the time jog past faster.

I'm more of a casual fan, I would be a super-fan, but I have to restrain myself. I got things to be more focused on.
A worthwhile fandom, though!

stargate-cat [2010-09-17 04:01:31 +0000 UTC]

wonderful use of perspective, light and shadow. At first I thought this was a photo made to look like a painting then I enlarged it. It makes me think of Tolkien, of a million other fantasy novels with descriptions of lush forests and sparkling pristine waters. Wonderfully done.

(I'm not sure how I got here btw, I've just been surf-clicking around deviant art)

Yeah, it's a painting, although I've heard other people say the preview does look like a photo. This is inspired by the site of an old hill fort I visited once.

Well...regarding his novels, Tolkien picked up elements and characters directly from Finnish and Norse mythologies, so perhaps he might've likewise gotten influences from the Nordic nature.

Scratch that. It looks EXACTLY like it (at least how I remember it). Which makes me love it even more.

A background? I thought this was an actual photo from the thumbnail. If this is the background, just wow, what does the foreground look like?! Amazing. My skills at artistry come and go and I'm not driven enough to practice the periods of horrid art away, at least not visual art. However, I know what I like and this is one of the most aesthetically pleasing pieces I've encountered at DA. I know you griped about your snape piece, but I'm thankful it prompted me to view the rest of your stuff. Overall...your entire gallery is amazing!

zorm In reply to Saronai [2010-06-19 18:46:02 +0000 UTC]

Hey, thanks for your comment and watch. I haven't fully decided what to do with this picture yet; I'll probably use some Finnish mythology character in the foreground. I scrapped the original sketch and composition and just proceeded with the background first.

Eh, I forgot I had still that little angry line below the Snape pic. I was just really frustrated at one point (and people were constantly squabbling over some silly stuff in the thread).

Saronai In reply to zorm [2010-06-20 00:19:35 +0000 UTC]

Hee

Well, usually when I get drawn in by a pic I check out the rest of the artist's works automatically (If I like one I'm bound to like the rest right?). For those that don't though, I can imagine why it must have been frustrating to get so much attention over one silly doodle when you have so many beautiful works to oogle.
