I made this as a Thank You for a good friend of mine who is always there when I'm really in need. When I was younger we used to go camping at this lake, there are lots of fond memories there. It's not much, but I hope it lets him know how appreciative I am.Watercolor on heavy watercolor paper 4.5"x5.5" About 2 hours.
I tried some new techniques for me, mostly on the trees. Pallet knife on the trunks and branches and dry-brush on the "leaves". Also, some white acrylic as some highlights and for the clouds.
It's been almost a year since I've seriously sat down with watercolors. It felt good to get back into them,.

It is much. Believe me, making something like this for a good friend is really a great thing you can do. It shows that you care for the other person, and think about that too. He/she is very lucky to have a friend like you!

I like the reflections in the water and the balance between the lake and the sky; the touch of warmer colours along the horizon breaks it up very nicely. I'm sure your friend will appreciate such a nice gift!

Well, if the scan didn't do it justice then it must be very nice indeed. I have played around with watercolors and know how tricky they can be. This has a wonderful rhythm to it.
