Description Finally done, yey!  This is my second try on multi-colored ballpoint pens and also my entry for this month's challenge.  Credits to for the beautiful reference photo, which is what really convinced me to join this month's challenge.  I got the practice I needed.  More practices to come!


Tools used: Multi-colored ballpoint pens, Canson sheets, mechanical pencil for the outline.

Thank you.  I'm glad that the most part of the face and hair turned out okay, because I struggled a lot with the scarf.  I wasn't expecting that drawing fabric with ballpoint was that hard. XD  I just googled Juan Francisco Casas.  Wow, his ballpoint pieces are awesome indeed!  I'm an instant fan!

Yes indeed, he is fantastic.  A fellow deviant exposed me to his work.  Can't remember who it was though  He really makes the one color count!  And every piece is incredibly big too.

Hey, Eddie, thank you. At first, I didn't know either.  Until I saw the works of Allan Barbeau and VianaArts (2 of the most amazing ballpoint artists I ever saw).  After that, I started scouring my country for multi-colored ballpoint pens.

Looking awesome . The hair and eye are masterfully done, but I feel that you hatching (especially on the face) is alittle rushed: resulting in a sketchy work. All I can say to this is that you should go over yor previous hatching (with the same pressure), over and over-to really smooth down the texture

Thank you! Hmm, yeah, I agree, it was a little rushed.  Except for the background where I really intended it to make it look sketchy. I have no idea why, but I like my background to look that way. XD Though I actually had problems with the pen because it blots a lot.  And I admit my patience wore thin, expecially with the face.  Haha.  I actually thought of doing what you said, going over the previous hatching, but I got scared of losing control and making the skin look too dark.  I'll strive to do better in my next piece.  I think patience (a lot of it) and hand control is the key.

That last sentance is 100% true with pens hy. But that's what I like about em! The patience and skill required isn't something that many have, and the challenge of "unchangeable" ink intimidates many not to try it. But not us
