Charlie was once the assistant of William Carter, better known as Maxwell the Great. A magician who found a powerful magic tome called the Codex Umbra. While the magic he pulled from it made him and Charlie famous, it came at a terrible price. After not hearing from Maxwell in days, she stopped by his home to check on him. When she discovered the mad writings on the wall in his study, she fled, afraid. Concerned, she offered to get away after their final act, to her family cabin. Take a break from the magic.
But the events of their final act were terrible.
Using the book, the Codex Umbra, Maxwell and Charlie performed their act as always. The final event was to be Maxwell pulling a living shadow out of the book, but instead, the shadow tried to pull him inside. He pulled his arm free and Charlie went to his side. But shortly after, shadow hands rose from the book and took hold of them, pulling them inside the book by force.
While Maxwell retained himself entirely, a darker fate had awaited his lovely assistant. Changed, she became the Night Monster. At night, Charlie would become a monster that mercilessly attacked those left in the dark, who could not perceive her. A monster like the living shadows that watched the strange world they were taken to. The living shadow creatures that took them there.

Bill looked around the forest area he had awoken in. "What a lovely place~ Especially that one eyed bird across the river over there!" He exclaimed, grinning. foer some reason, the sun was already setting, but Bill didn't give a crap. He just made a flower crown, floated over to the eyebird, and but the crown on the creature's head. "Beautiful~!"

Night was almost upon the wilderness. The time was near, she would soon become a monster. The Night Monster, the reason light was so precious during the pitch black nights. Attacking any who could not perceive her, no one was safe. She'd had hope that this night would pass without any deaths, but she frowned when she heard a voice call out to her. Turning to the sound, a frown appeared on her face and she started towards the man. He had no light, she needed to help him before it was too late. By the time she'd made it to him, it was almost time for the change to occur. Quickly, she pressed two pieces of flint into his hand. Lighting her lantern, she set it on the ground near him before righting herself and backing away. "Please, whatever you do, stay in light. Light the fire and don't let it go out. Put the lantern out when you have a fire going, but use it if you need it.Β Please." She could only hope her pleas would be heeded. She didn't want to wake up with blood on her hands. She turned and walked away, out of the lantern's light. Darkness soon descended, concealing her from view. She was no longer in control of herself. She had become the Night Monster.

She's actually from a game called Don't Starve. The only real information about her is in the William Carter puzzles, which are found by hidden links in trailers from the game makers
There really isn't a lot on her so her personality and many things I just sort of made up]
