Description I'm still here...
Being blown away by the beauty all around me almost everyday!

This is a recent favourite which I think actually has some photographic merit though rather than being a simply snapshot...

There is a true harmony between nature and humankind in this capture.

Such a gorgeous picture of Nara. It's such an incredible place, and this shot made me squeal; it brought back memories of when I went to Japan. ^^ Thank you for sharing such a lovely photo!

You're welcome.
And it is. Although I was chased by deer at one stage: they thought my little carry bag was food.

Lol they do go ever so slightly insane as soon as any sign of food comes into sight...

Haha, as I quickly learnt! I didn't mind though, I had never seen deer before. I was quite happy for them to follow me.

did you ever go to hiroshima? there's deer there too ^^

I did, but my time there was really short, which was a shame.I cried a lot in the peace park. Hiroshima is just incredibly beautiful, and the okonomiyaki...I could LIVE off that stuff. ^_^

I'm definitely going to cry when I have to leave that behind! Determined to become a frequent buyer in my local asian supermarket when I have to go back!!!

Definitely. It's a shame my family won't try anything past sushi, but at least I have a good bunch of Japan-loving friends who I can eat with.
Oh gosh, now I'm becoming hungry with all this food talk. xD

Awee at least you've got a bit of company! All the people I'm sharing a flat with next year are also on this year abroad so with any luck, keeping a japanese household shouldn't be too much hassle?

Nice! ^^ That sounds brilliant. It really does help to have a few people around that love the culture also. It helps to sort of keep your language and cultural habits in tact even though you're back with those who speak your first language.

Aww, what a cute deer! He seems really tame too … I've never come that close to one before. Is he on a leash? or is that a necklace hanging from that man's hand?

It's rosary beads that the monk is holding - the deer is completely free. These deer walk all across Nara city, but I was still shocked when this one stayed perfectly content next to the monk

Uwahh!!! Kobe is beautiful!
I have family in Nishinomiya (Hyogo) which is between Kobe and Osaka.
So you are spending a year there?
The is so wonderful !!
How are you enjoying it so far?

01demai In reply to megani [2009-11-17 17:31:46 +0000 UTC]

Ooo I know Nishinomiya
I'm really loving the entire experience so far - it's certainly very different from everything I've known until now, but Japan is so beautiful and everyone has been so kind to me that even on the days I struggle, I don't feel horrifically out of place. It's simply fantastic!

I feel more at home there than I feel at home. Hahaha~
And of course it is beautiful~ Just wait for Spring
Hehehe~
