Description
Audrey is a tank engine who, along with Pug and Jinty (her brother), helped run the railway whilst Thomas and the seven other famous engines visited London for a special occasion. She then visited Sodor for the celebrations of the 50th Railway Series book.You can read about her in the Sodor Island Forum's ERS Library, in the following book:

Yes, so while THomas and the others are away in London, they bring in some Mainland locomotives to run the place.
Two things come to mind:
1) When the big engines (James, Henry and Gordon) were not wanting to shunt, there was a reduced schedule and the passengers accepted it, so I guess the same here.
2) The other dozen or so locomotives Fat Controller owns could run the schedule and give them more "appearances" like Boco, Donald, Douglas and the mysterious "Eagle" or bring Stepney back again too.
