Description So, I've been wanting to draw a thylacine for quite a while, they truly were amazing creatures! Since I had no idea about what to sketch, I decided it was about time to draw one, and also decided to experiment a bit with the fur textures.
Overall I really had fun working on this, and I'd really like to draw more thylacines or Australian stuff in general. Remind me of that!

Oh, and enjoy the fluffy, striped butt!

Nice to see some Australian stuff from you! This fellow's back stripe look especially peculiar when viewed from such an angle -Β thylacines were quite interesting creatures. I like how you added war paint to complete the look, too.Β

Very niceΒ thylacines are a personal favourite of mine to draw. There are lots of different ways to go about the striped butt. I played about with several variations and then just decided to make them individual differences.Β

elearu-hiru-firetail In reply to 0laffson [2019-03-27 14:51:47 +0000 UTC]

It's a language known to my family alone a language passed from father to son

It's a dead language from a very long time ago. It has no name and was spoken in the continental U.S. before the Indian tribes we know now existed
As far as I know it's a very ancient form of the modern apachy spoken by a group of people who crossed the land bridge during the ice age but. My grandfather nor I know its exact origin
It's the first language I learned aside from English
It's old and many of the original words have no translation in any other language. It seem to exist in my family alone yet I know not if it does anywhere else to hear it spoken is much different from its written form since my brother and I had to create from scratch the written form and an alphabet to go with it. It's a hard language to master. My grandfather doesn't even know everthing.

If you haven't guessed I'm a halfblood apachy mom was German dad was apachy so I have a very interesting heritage.

Wow, I've never heard of the thylacine! I was actually really sad to read that they are now extinct. Such fascinating creatures. Almost a blend of canine and feline characteristics. And they were marsupials too! Thanks for showing us, 0laff. Β

Unfortunately most marsupial megafauna went extinct as soon as humans set foot to Australia. A real shame.

Thanks Tek!

Nice one, anyway. I do wonder how aboriginal Australian look like, as in, the body paint, clothes, etc... maybe I should go check it out for fun

I wanted to add it, but didn't know where to put it without making the picture look too cluttered! XD

Thank you a bunch! I know horribly little about the Aboriginal culture, unfortunately, so I hope I haven't messed up horribly. This guy is not meant to represent any particular population in any case.

Think they would use their mouths as a weapon? They have the biggest yawn gage I believe

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

0laffson In reply to LongbowSR [2019-03-27 05:31:34 +0000 UTC]

I think using jaws would never be a great idea for any kind of anthro animal, unless in case of dire need. Using jaws would mean exposing the head and neck in a very dangerous way.
