Description Took a drive with the intention of doing some star trails but that didn't get too far due to patchy clouds.

So mounted the camera on the EQ-5 and tried a shot of Andromeda. This wasn't using my scope, but my 200mm Nikon VR blah blah.

This was cropped down to about 40% or original size. Bit noisey but I'm working on that.

34 ISO1000 90 second images.
Stacked with DSS and appropriate darks.

So, did you move your tripod or camera during that shot? You know, follow the movement of the galaxy? Or did you just keep the same place in view and the software processed and cropped the photo automatically?

Moved the camera on my telescope mount to follow the galaxy. It was an interesting process.

Did you adjust the tripod after every shot? Because doing that 34 times over and over again seems to be...annoying.

What I'm using is an EQ-5 German equatorial mount. What I normally slap my scope on. Figured tracking the heavens would be easier with less zoom.

Pretty much. Right now I'm trying to improve on HDR and long exposure. Even did a few HDR-long exposure shots...quite tedious, i tell you that! I did a few startrail shots, but nothing that makes "Dang!" if you look at it.

I rather want to look at your photos. Because they're awesome.

Wind is too strong to deal with the scope (the main issue I have with my mount, gimme a still night god...please!) How is the EQ6 for dealing with it?

Better polar alignment, longer exposures, better focus.

Please bag this one, put me outta my misery attempting this!

My pleasure mate Yeah wind can be a problem. I tend to do what you have done here and switch to "widefield" if it is too windy and still clear enough. My mount could handle a lot more than yours. Hope that weather playts ball for you soon.

I have a special tripod that keeps my camera pointed at the same piece of sky for minutes at a time.

If you look up the andromeda galaxy, I think you'll be able to see it at night from where you are, just as a bit if grey fuzz.
