well it's the map of today (2014)
Congo claimed to be "Marxist-Leninist" from the 3rd January 1970 to the 15th March 1992
here's a interesting list with all former states who claimed to be "socialist":

They renounced all their claims to "Marxism-Leninism" cause of the failure of the east european states, so they just follow their own variant of socialism "Juche"

Like Moldova, Nepal, Venezuela, Bolivia and so on
Socialists are everywhere
but in this map only the countries are included who are claiming (according to their constitution) to be "socialist"
so it doesn't matter who runs the country...

What? The EU is a fascist, totalitarian and imperialistic union of american vassals... XD ok that's only partly true.
No the EU is no where near "Socialism" cause: Socialism is a economic theory where the means of production are controlled and managed by the workers
So the EU is typically capitalist...

It's a bit over the top to call the EU Fascist. While it serves as the bottom-bitch of America, it is nowhere near authoritarian enough to be considered Fascist. It's mostly in fact a Centre-Right Neo-Liberal Union, which is still bad in my opinion.

19North95 In reply to MyLittleTripod [2014-11-01 19:17:41 +0000 UTC]

that was more a joke not to be taken serious, if the EU would really be fascist I would not even have the chance to write something against the EU.
Neoliberalism is the ultimate shit, how is even "endless growth" in a not endless world possible...

Und dann gibts welche die sagen, Polen ist voll scheiße, sie würden gerne Deutsche sein XD

Portugal, really? Are you sure? Portugal is a capitalist economy, like any economy in the European Union. Being a capitalist and open economy is one of the criterias for being part of the EU and Portugal is a member of the EU so... Yes I know what you're gonna say... that socialism is written in the Portuguese constitution. But it's purely theoretical, as president Anibal Cavaco Silva is a center-right president. And the main Portuguese left party, the Socialist Party, is social-democrat and not marxist so I don't really get your point.

I'm portuguese and I know that PS (socialist party) taked power and now the premier minister of the ladt governament is arrested because corruption. Now Portugal has a social-democratic governament with Passos Coelho (centre-right)

19North95 In reply to Kim-Il-Songun [2014-10-23 20:01:47 +0000 UTC]

No it's not fictitious, the point is to inform which countries actually are claiming (according to their constitution) to be socialist, i might change the title...
Socialism is a economic theory where the means of production are controlled and managed by the workers, so no country on this planet was "Socialist" at all they just claimed it or were moving in the direction of Socialism.
And your right it's theoretical, and got absolutely nothing to do with the current economic or political situation in let's say Portugal, but they claim to be Socialist (thanks to the left-winged Carnation Revolution which overthrew the Fascist dictatorship over there) that's why they're included.
And some may thing that such a map is boring, but all kind of maps or photos are in some way boring so... it's simply a: nice to have this knowledge
and btw not every Socialist is a Marxist...

I think it's supposed to be fictitious, even though he doesn't state it in the description.
Either that or he has selected some of the "socialist" (which can cover a lot of countries) he could think of.
Either way, pretty boring.
