Description After the depressing ambiguity of "The End," I felt it incumbent upon me to clarify Maw's eventual fate. Plus, it gave me a chance to work on my casual posing figures, and play with fun fonts.

When we last heard from Maw, previously known as Sellette Brodequin, her mutation had spiraled out of control and she was dying. Desperate to live, if for no other reason than for the sake of her adopted daughter Bitter Almond and her starfish Colby, she paid an undisclosed sum in diamonds to Hugo Strange for an experimental cure. However, Strange's lab was raided by the Batman, and the glass tube containing Maw vanished entirely. People presumed she was dead. And for two or three years, the business of Gotham went on without her.

But in the world of super-heroes, death is never really permanent. Batman had attacked Strange's laboratory because he suspected that the scientist was turning people into mutants for his own use; finding Maw, he didn't recognize her at all, and assumed she was one of Strange's victims. He took the unconscious Maw back to one of his laboratories and set to work reversing the mutation. By the time the process was halfway completed, he realized who--or rather, what--he was really dealing with, and considered stopping the procedure. But he realized that to leave the mutation unchecked would definitely kill her. Damn his conscience!

She was in a coma for almost six months while being worked on. After coming to, and realizing who had saved her, Maw experienced a severe moral crisis, and eventually decided to give up her criminal activities. Well, most of them.

He saved her life. That doesn't mean they're friends. But now, at the age of forty-nine, Maw has gone over to the side of . . . well, chaotic neutral, actually. She's more of a rampant, self-serving vigilante than an active threat to Gotham or its people, and is concentrating on only hurting folks who really deserve it. Considering her previous face-eating habits, that's a real improvement from Gotham's point of view.

Forty-nine-year-old, post-mutation Maw has several changes. Her hair has turned gray, although her natural coloration means that it's more blue-white. Several features have actually receded; her claws have fallen out, and her jaw can no longer unhinge. The flippers have also begun turning back into feet, and the ears are smaller. One leg was unsalvageable, and had to be amputated; she used some of her cash stockpile to have an artificial one with a gill assembly built, so she can swim as fast and breathe as well as ever. There are several long scars on her body where clumps of mutated tumors were excised. But despite all that, she's live and kicking (biting, scratching, breaking arms, eating poisons, smart-assing, monologuing, complaining, threatening).

Would you ever consider submitting Maw into DC?

Erm . . . daydreamed, maybe a little, but never seriously considered it. I'll bet they get all kinds of submissions from people, and one more would just go on the pile. Maybe once I get my book published *eyes her editor meaningfully* I'll send her to them, but until that extremely far-off day, I'm sticking with goofing around on the Internet.

That's actually a really cool ending. I mean, at first I thought you were just saying it to please the ones who whinged about it. But it definitely fits. And it hasn't made her normal or perfect again. She's still got some scars, some problems. I like it. She can hang around with the rest of us deformed types without being a sellout
Plus artificial limbs are hot

I actually never intended to kill Maw. I drew her as dead in "The End" because it was a good pose to show off her mutated self, but once I realized that people thought she really was going to die, I figured I'd better finish the story. Though I have to admit, I'm touched by the reactions I got; I never thought a goofy li'l fancharacter would have that kind of impact. It really makes me love you folks all the more.

Artificial limbs, scars, yesyes--these are the results of a long life in Gotham. She's also carrying a little more weight on her midsection and behind, but we don't talk about that. *dodges angry chomp*

Ah I never assumed she gets killed off, but the fact she 'disappeared' made me slightly alarmed. Maw is one of the best OCs I've come across in ages. Plus she's always fun to read. Hell, hath's son picks up Maw's habit of giving people nicknames after hearing about it from his mum. Of course, they're mostly Wonderland themed.

Oooh! That's harsh - you is well gonna get beatings! I actually made Maw in Sims 2 *shifty eyes* Well as close as I get on such short notice. I need to change her hair for one thing. It looks too much like her hair before she was pushed off the boat.

Now all we need to do is cut off one of Queen's limbs. Then she'll be as deformed as the rest of us *sing song voice* Oh QuuuueeeeEEEENNNN...

UMMMMMM NO

Maybe somethin will happen to Queen who knows? I hope she and Sandman stay together. I don't know, Chesire kinda loses a hand thanks to Miss Kaboom. We'll see if anything happens to Queen. It seems really Mary-suish that nothing happens to her but... eh.

And yes this is a fantastic thing for Maw! I can't wait she and Queen will still be friends

That's the plan, natch. And don't worry, you can stay non-crippled; we need someone to do the shopping.

I don't know that it's Mary-Sueish if nothing really godawful happens to Queen. I mean, it might be pushing the envelope if everybody got mutilated--it would almost be like we were going "Look, we have awful lives! NOT MARY SUES NAO PLZ." Right now, I think we're at the perfect mix of mutilated and un-mutilated to have a good realistic twenty-years-time scenario.

As realistic as Gotham can get, that is . . .

Maw: Pick up barrel of toxic waste, yes? Shipment of radioactive material come in today--down at dock, pier 37. Wear hazmat suit if fetching.

Colby: And we're out of milk.

Queen: *sighs* I'll see what I can do. And Colby, your lactose intolerant.

I'm glad you like her! It's been ages since I made a fan character (I was paranoid about creating a Mary Sue) and it's great to hear that people aren't being annoyed by her.

Mad Hatter II picks up her habit? Awesome! Maybe Maw babysat him a couple of times, when Hath had missions. "Put on this wetsuit and diving helmet, sweetie, you're staying at mommy's friend's house."

I DEMAND pix of Sims Maw. *cracks whip*

And as for Queen . . . hmmm. Part of me wants to mutilate her to blend in with the crowd, but the other part of me thinks there should be one non-deformed person in the group, so she can do the shopping for us without attracting any suspicion.

...Damn you have a point. She's safe...for now...

The babysitting thing seems perfectly logical...and something that must be drawn.

YES MA'AM! *flails*
