Description In Kowloon City near Nathan Road. This neighborhood was being considered to be torn down. Many of the buildings here are over 80 years old. You can see construction going on in the background and the new high-rise buildings as well.

I used Photomatix Pro 2.5.1 to convert this image into HDR. I think the end result wasn't too bad.

Any Feedback would be great.

I'm surprised that there is so little activity.

So many times I see an HK movie, it seems to be some place like this--more run dow--and I wonder if the city has any nice places to be. I've seen other places like WanChai Market but they never seem to look like people live there, also.

Any idea if they're leaving it alone or not?

Simply beautiful. I wish the city I lived in had such an aesthetic.

Having the airport right next door gave Kowloon an amazing aesthetic.. And it looked the same way for sooooo long. Almost tragic that its changing so quickly but I guess that's life/progress/money.

Did you manipulate the contrast or colors?
Or, are those the original colors?
Cos' I noticed that it looks really damp, like it just rained, the colors I mean.

I took one photo in RAW format and then I used Photomatix Pro to convert it to HDR.

I don't know what that means.
(the RAW and HDR stuff).

RAW format is uncompressed so you can change every part of the photo. It is about 75% larger in data size.

HDR is high dynamic range. It basically means that even shadows have details too.

So...the buildings don't really look like that, cos' you manipulated it all to look badass? XD

I really like this picture. Hong Kong is like my second home. It's a nice composition, but I think it would be a stronger piece if you cut out the people. Make the rundown apartments and buildings the focus in this picture. The people are distracting (imo). Nice job, Vinson!

i'd have to agree that the people walking in the background are distracting. especially the up close ones but i think it'd crop too much of the blue truck out of the photo. it'd look a little awkward with half of a truck. but that's just me.

Could always crop out the trunk entirely. Anywho, it's a nice photo as is.
