Honestly, only an idiot would say that quote because the system and movement is a result of the structure. And "abstract" itself is a system of relations. The perspective, or "abstraction", is a result of those sense information interacting with the person's relational network.
The character is still cool, but his problems would be easily solved by a person that intelligent. The writer understood the overall perspective of the character, but they didn't understand why he would act that way.
