◆ APPEARANCE: Grey skin, pink plumage. Atlas is built, tall and strong. His hair is shaven on both sides in a short on the sides, long on top undercut style. His natural hair colour is faded pink. His eyes are also pink. But they’re not infected, and he is not unwell, despite the look of his skin. Yeah. He gets that a lot. He has bags under his eyes due to his hypersomnolence.

Being androgyne, Atlas is inclined towards all styles of clothing, be they gendered or not. It is common to see him wearing skirts, dresses, blouses, tights/stockings, high heels and commonly attributed “female” clothes. He also wears “male” clothes, it merely depends how he is feeling when he gets dressed. Despite being constantly tired, he takes pride in his appearance and tries to look good. He adores fashion and has been to Milan and NYC for fashion week a few times, though disguises were necessary. He sobs into his clothes each time he has to alter them by cutting and re-sewing holes in the backs of his garments to accommodate his wings. That $500 chanel blouse… So sad.

Due to his large wings, Atlas has trouble going out in public, as he sticks out like a sore thumb amongst humans. At times he can avoid being noticed by wearing long coats and pulling his wings in very tight to his body, but it often makes him look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. Because he is so tall and a large presence, Atlas often turns heads when he enters a room, which is a hassle to him, as he prefers to be by himself mostly.

• BODILY MUTATIONS. Although not technically “abilities”, Atlas’ wings to grant him the gift of flight, though he rarely uses them for that purpose.
• HEALING/WOUNDING. Atlas has the ability to heal, and to wound. His healing abilities are, however, lacking in finesse. He rarely uses them anymore, and therefore is out of practice. He is barely able to heal anything larger than a medium sized laceration or bruise, and usually does not bother as these are usually non-life threatening.

His wounding abilities have not yet come to surface.

Atlas believes he is a descendant of the Cheyarafim. Unbeknownst to him, he is actually descendant from the Neyaphem.

• Comfortable places. Chairs, walls, couches, beds. Floors. Atlas suffers from hypersomnolence, meaning that he is constantly tired, and has a habit of falling asleep in the wrong places and at the wrong times. It is not uncommon to find him asleep in the gardens, in one of the lounges or in various other inconvenient places (on the loo, in the broom cupboard, on the stairway, ect).
• Fashion. Bribery for new items is not out of the ordinary.
• Fire, water, large gusts of wind. Anything that can affect feathers.
• Telepaths. Don’t get in his head. He’ll go apeshit.
• Triggers. Atlas has some emotional triggers, which will be established over time. He can get very upset at small things, which can seem very odd to people who do not understand him or know his past.

◆ PERSONALITY:
Quiet, sighs a lot, tired and generally annoyed at everything. A bit of an arsehole. Atlas is, on the exterior, a bit bristly. Suffering from a few mental illnesses, he is depressed, paranoid and often anxious. These can be and are partly a side effect of his hypersomnolence, but are also stand alone issues. As well as that, he has undiagnosed sociopathic tendencies. He has, thankfully, grown out of many of these over time, but as a child they were very evident in his behaviour. With his powers coming to fruition as a young child, Atlas carried a morbid curiosity with him and would capture and purposefully injure small animals in order to heal them again.

This inclination grew as he developed a stronger confidence in his powers, and he began hurting other children. Pushing them off the playground, throwing rocks at them, and hitting them. Then healing them again and feigning innocence when they told their parents. After all, there was no injury or evidence to incriminate him.

His wings started growing in when he was just 8 years old. It took three years until they fully developed and at the age of 11 he had to start hiding them the best he could. Just after his 14th birthday, Atlas had become too confident with his abilities. He could heal broken bones, large gashes, and at one point he had brought a swan back to life from the very edge of death. This gave fuel to the fire of his curiosity, which he still carried, and he decided to try it on a larger subject.

He invited one of his very few friends over for a sleep over, and while the boy was asleep that night, Atlas stabbed him multiple times in the chest and abdomen. He very well may have been able to save the boy and heal him again, but he waited too long, in an attempt to get him as close to the edge of death as possible, and his attempts at healing his wounds came far too late. The boy bled to death, and Atlas had killed him.

With help from his brother, the murder was covered up as a break in and an assault from an unknown man. The boy’s body was returned to his family, a funeral was held, police reports were written, and Atlas got off without any repercussions. Or so it would seem.

The reason that Atlas’ powers are now lacking where they once were so strong, is because he stopped using them after the incident. He has fallen out of practice, and is truly quite afraid of what he may actually be capable of. He still exhibits odd “sociopathic” or borderline personality disorder traits at times, but he has taught himself to temper them as best he can. He does, however, get upset at certain things, as previously mentioned.

Having been around the institute for some years, Atlas is a familiar sight amongst the halls, but still remains secluded by himself most of the time and has little to no friends to properly speak of. He is more of a walking and living furniture piece in the place, rather than an interactive installation.

◆ HISTORY: Born just outside of Oslo, Norway, Atlas was child to a Scottish mother and a French father. What a mix. When he was 3 years old, Atlas’ father was in a car accident and perished. His mother, distraught by her husbands death, began to increasingly ignore and neglect her two sons, Atlas and his brother, who is 8 years older than he.

Atlas’ brother found himself having to care for and raise his own little brother over several years until atlas was 10. At this time, their mother picked up and left for good. After years of late nights, abusive fights and strange men in the house, she finally found one who she ran away with, leaving her boys $200 and the house to get by on. The utilities were quickly shut off, and Atlas’ brother was forced to drop out of school to get paid work, sacrificing his education and his future for his little brother. They were put on welfare, and a carer came in to help them once a week, and eventually they got by.

Atlas’ brother loves Atlas more than anything in the world, and would die for him, even if the sentiment is not entirely returned. He, too, is a mutant. when Atlas was 14 and murdered his friend, the two brothers left the country to live near their grandparents in Scotland. Near, not with. They were hardly hospitable towards the boys. They stayed there until Atlas was 18, and had gotten himself into various debacles, before Atlas ran away.

He returned a year later, and the two’s relationship had changed somewhat. Atlas was keeping to himself more, and seemed much more reserved now. He lived working from home for a small company for three more years, until he was 21, when a strange looking man in a wheelchair came to see him, and offered him refuge at his institution. Frustrated with his setting, and with much encouragement from his older brother, Atlas agreed, and has been lounging around the estate ever since.
